🔥 1922: Police the Clothing. 2026: Police the Looking.

A century ago, police in some American communities enforced public decency laws. Women could be cited for bathing suits exposing too much leg.

Today, women wear extremely short shorts, crop tops, and skin-tight leggings leaving little to the imagination.
Yet who gets condemned? Men for LOOKING.

Should men gawk at women? No. Men must exercise self-control.

But here's the irony: Why must men exercise self-control with their eyes while women supposedly need none in what they wear?

📖 1 Timothy 2:9 (KJV):
"In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety..."
Consider Paul's words:

• Modest apparel: Appropriate, respectable clothing.
• Shamefacedness: Modest reserve and propriety.
• Sobriety: Sound judgment and SELF-CONTROL.

Paul commands women to exercise self-control in their appearance.

Yet modern culture demands self-control from men while defending unlimited freedom for women to expose or accentuate their bodies.
God designed men to be visually attracted to women. Revealing clothing draws attention.

And LOOKING IS NOT LUSTING.

Jesus condemned looking to lust (Matthew 5:28), not merely noticing a woman. Romans 7:7 connects sinful desire with coveting.

Biblical modesty requires standards at every level of authority.

Civil governments should establish minimum public decency laws.

Churches should set modesty standards for their activities.

Husbands and fathers should set standards for their wives and daughters.

The strictest applicable standard should prevail.

A stricter church standard governs church activities. A stricter public ordinance governs public dress. A stricter household standard governs that household.

We've abandoned public modesty while condemning men for noticing immodesty.

Why is self-control demanded of men's eyes but rejected for women's clothing?

If looking at half naked women is inappropriate then looking at a man in a Porsche is a crime.

I believe Satan uses a man's natural (God-given) attraction to the female form to entice us into sin. Whether that's to make a man lust after the girls in your 2026 picture or, perhaps, to draw unfavorable comparisons with one's wife. It doesn't even have to be in real life. Pornogr@phy is an obvious one. But there is hardly a TV show or movie made in the past 40-50 years that doesn't have some bit of female s3xuality in it. And now that we're into the season of Christmas and New Year's advertising, pay attention to the cologne and perfume ads.

👏 Controversial opinion: I’m not saying either side is blameless in this, but controlling what you wear is easier than controlling your thoughts.

Its the reverse of islam. They run the show now. If you look you are committing an offence. If you don't look you must be homosexual. As Cato the elder said; Woman is a violent and uncontrolled animal, and it is useless to let go the reins and then expect her not to kick over the traces. You must keep her on a tight rein . . Women want total freedom or rather - to call things by their names - total licence. If you allow them to achieve complete equality with men, do you think they will be easier to live with? Not at all. Once they have achieved equality, you will be their slaves. Men pedestalised them and now we have what we have. They just love to lord it over you.

The irony of modern modesty debates is that everyone wants to talk about men's SELF-CONTROL, but almost nobody wants to talk about women's SELF-CONTROL. Yet 1 Timothy 2:9 explicitly commands women to dress with "sobriety" (Greek: sōphrosynē), meaning sound judgment and self-restraint. Why is a man expected to control his eyes while a woman is told she can wear practically anything she wants? Scripture places responsibility on BOTH sexes. Men must govern their conduct. Women must govern their appearance. And let's stop confusing LOOKING with LUSTING. Jesus condemned looking TO lust (Matthew 5:28), not simply noticing an attractive woman. The solution isn't to eliminate male visual attraction. God created it. The solution is to restore biblical modesty, personal self-control, and public decency standards. A society that refuses to regulate public immodesty has no business treating every glance from a man as a moral offense.
