History remembers the samurai, but women fought to defend their communities too. ⚔️🇯🇵 Archaeological analysis of remains from several 16th-century Japanese battle sites, including Senbon Matsubara, found that many belonged to women. At some sites, researchers estimated that women may have accounted for 30–50% of those buried among the fallen. These findings came from bone analysis, not DNA testing. Historical accounts also describe the onna-musha and onna-bugeisha—women from warrior families who trained with weapons such as the naginata and bow. They were prepared to defend their homes and communities when war came to their doorstep. One remarkable figure was Nakano Takeko, who led a female fighting unit during the 1868 Boshin War and died in battle. Their stories challenge the image of Japan’s warriors as exclusively male. These women were part of history all along; their stories deserve to be remembered. History isn't being rewritten. It's being restored. HU Staff: Kecia Gayle @kecia.kae The Daily Mail posted leaked phone calls on Thursday, October 15, recorded back in 2020 and 2021, while she was still in prison and rekindling things with Ryan Anderson after a split from Ken Urker. In them, she admits she once told Urker she hoped he’d overdose. Urker is now gone… ___________________________________________________ As we previously reported, Urker was found dead in his Louisiana home after a wellness check, and the Lafourche Sheriff’s Office said it was continuing its death investigation. He died on October 1, his 34th birthday. Blanchard told outlets she believes he overdosed because an unidentified substance was found where he died, though she doesn’t know what it was or whether it was intentional. ___________________________________________________ Now for the calls... In the December 2020 audio, she talked about sending Urker the Tate McRae song “You Broke Me First,” and when Anderson guessed she’d be calling Urker soon, she shot that down. Her words, per the alleged leaked audio: “No, even after I told him he could overdose and all that” he still kept himself on her email. A separate March 2021 call reportedly has her repeating that she told Ken she hoped he’d overdose, Daily Mail reports. Even Anderson seemed uneasy. He reportedly looked uncomfortable and asked to change the subject.
