3 hours agoAgain I need a culture like slavic or germanic I like that communication style, or at least I think I like that better than American
4 days agoIn Germany you can’t even speak if you don’t have the right hierarchy. This whole invention that they are driven by facts and they are pragmatic, I’ve never in my life seen more fanatically ideological people than Germans. Nothing has to make sense as long as it is a behaviour supported by the collective and spoken by someone in the right place in the hierarchy in that given time. That’s all. Like in a Kafka’s book. You want to convince them, just act as if you had a certain status, that’s all they care about
4 days agoI’m German in behavior working for American leadership who only want solutions. Then when I don’t explain why they get upset. But they also hate the long story. So frustrating. And no I am Mexican which is a whole other cultural behavior. 🤣
4 days agoI really appreciate how you explained this without painting one style as superior. As an American married to a German and living in Germany, I experience this difference all the time—even with my husband! He tends to walk me through his entire thought process and reasoning before reaching the bottom line. Coming from a culture where we lead with the main point first, that was a real adjustment for me. The American approach isn't bad (despite what a lot of commenters here seem to think)—it's just a different communication style.
4 days agoAs an American I think like a German and find Americans only want the bottom line bc they don't care about the mess they create as long as they 'win'. Giving the why is clearer among a group and allows the process to be vetted before jumping in.
