“STOP COMPARING YOUR BEST TO OUR WORST!” 🔥

Dave Anderson challenges the way Black Americans are sometimes compared to African and Caribbean immigrants.

He argues that when people point to immigrant educational and economic success while repeating negative stereotypes about Black Americans, they’re ignoring a major part of the conversation.

**WHO IS ACTUALLY BEING COMPARED TO WHO?**

Dave raises questions about immigration selection, the size of the Black American middle class, and the historical experiences that shaped different communities.

Then he delivers one of the most powerful lines from the interview:

**“If you can’t talk about how your ancestors fled, you don’t get to talk about how my ancestors bled.”**

Is comparing successful immigrant populations to stereotypes about Black Americans an unfair comparison?

And can we acknowledge different historical experiences without turning the conversation into a competition?

This is a good point! Let's compare ghettos to ghettos. Or the uneducated To the uneducated and the educated To the educated, IF, We MUST have those conversations.....(Note: I don't have the need or the desire to, but some people do)

If the problem is unfair comparisons and historical ignorance, why respond by making unfair comparisons and demonstrating historical ignorance toward others?

It’s the power of whites supremacy. Makes a black man from Africa look down on a black man here. You’re only making a “I’m not one of them” when you want to show out for them other folks. It’s like when a black homeless guy here in San Diego is predominantly white area asking for money and you can see on their faces how they’re thinking of him and other black folks do it too, I make a show of it to walk over and talk to him. I hand him money and shake his hand. Tell him “God bless you and stay safe.” One, it’s the right thing to do and two, we are the same to them folks and I’m not showing out or looking down on my own people. They don’t. As the great Peter Tosh once said “Don’t care where you come from, as long as you’re a black man, you are an African.” Just my two cents on it
