As COVID-19 further isolated the women incarcerated at the NC Correctional Institution for Women in Raleigh, they came together to crochet a quilt to share their stories with the outside world.

But as the piece gained popularity, they needed a more permanent home for their stories, so they created a new piece that honored the original idea while allowing it to move beyond their local area. Learn more about this special quilt's journey to becoming a permanent art piece. Watch the full story on YouTube (link in bio).

Visibly Speaking is produced in association with the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation.
