Daejon Love Never Made It to the NFL, but His Alleged Scam Is Headed to Netflix: Streamer Orders Documentary on $1.3M Fraud Case

Netflix is bringing the shocking story of a man accused of pretending to be an NFL player while allegedly scamming women out of more than $1 million to the screen. According to Netflix’s official announcement on October 14, the streaming giant is developing “Untold: Wide Deceiver,” a documentary examining the allegations against Daejon Love, who reportedly posed as a San Francisco 49ers wide receiver and wealthy businessman to gain women’s trust before convincing them to hand over money.

The upcoming Daejon Love documentary will feature firsthand accounts from women who say they were victimized. Netflix plans to explore the elaborate identities Love allegedly created, the financial damage left behind, and how his supposed NFL career became a viral spectacle following his arrest.
But behind the social media jokes and outrageous football claims is a federal investigation involving dozens of women, millions in alleged investment promises, and approximately $1.3 million investigators say was collected.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Love, 35, and alleged accomplice Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, were arrested on August 24, 2026, in Boise, Idaho. Both initially faced federal complaints alleging wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Investigators allege the operation began in February 2022 and targeted women across Oregon, Washington, California, and Idaho. Love reportedly connected with women through dating applications and social media, presenting himself as someone with significant wealth and professional success.

His identities allegedly included an NFL player, a successful real estate investor, and a businessman with access to extraordinary financial opportunities. Federal authorities identified several names he used, including Jon Love, Avril Lyto Love, and Jordan Love.

One of his most recognizable personas involved claiming to be a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers, despite never having played for the franchise or in the NFL.
