Humanity has produced thousands of years of philosophy, scientific discoveries, and ethical debate. From Confucius and the Buddha to modern philosophers and scientists, we have countless sources to examine when trying to understand the world and how we should live.
So why should one ancient religious text be treated as uniquely authoritative?
A book's age doesn't make it false, just as its age doesn't make it true. Its claims should be evaluated on their merits, not accepted simply because generations have considered them sacred.
We can appreciate historical texts, learn from ancient thinkers, and discuss morality together without assuming that any scripture has all the answers. Wisdom should be judged by the quality of its ideas, not by the authority attributed to its source.
If the Bible makes a claim about morality or the natural world, shouldn't it face the same critical scrutiny as any other book?

The religious would never listen, they are as closed off as that audience was after the word ignorant. There also needs to be a certain level of intelligence to see through religion and the masses just don't have it.

Life on earth today is global and we understand democracy and freedom and equality are basic tenets of a good life. It was not this way 1500 yrs ago. Slavery was ubiquitous. These scribes were utterly parochial misogynistic and homophobic and did not live in democracies or understand egalitarian ideal.

40 different authors who heard voices in their heads claiming it was god who told them to write books about him I just can't believe or follow. God needs to speak directly to me for me to follow him ๐
