I’ve been teaching for 8 years now. I haven’t played or practiced much since I started giving lessons because I’ve been so busy, but my swing never changed because I have a strong foundation. Solid swing technique is everything in golf: 1. Consistency (hitting good shots more often) With good basics, your swing repeats the same way every time. This helps you hit the ball cleanly and straight instead of having big miss-hits. 2. Distance and Power When your swing technique is correct, your body transfers energy efficiently into the golf ball. You can hit the ball much farther without having to swing harder. 3. Injury Prevention A bad swing puts unnecessary stress on your lower back, wrists, and shoulders. Proper mechanics keep your body balanced and protect you from getting hurt. 4. Better Pressure Handling When you are under pressure (like in a tournament or playing for money with friends), bad habits break down fast. Solid basics give you confidence that holds up when you feel nervous. 5. Faster Improvement & Fixes When something goes wrong during a round, good fundamentals make it much easier to diagnose and fix your own mistake on the spot.
