Two Days of Making in Sarreyer
La Chaise × Le Baron Perché
Friday 30 – Saturday 31 October
« When we enter a place, the place enters us too. »
@le.baron.perche is Vanessa’s home, and its barn is the muse of this weekend. We’ll begin outside, walking the land with a local artist and gathering leaves, grasses and fallen textures. Then we’ll bring them to the table and turn them into collagraph plates. Collagraph is a printmaking technique where every vein, fibre and thread you lay down shows up on paper. It is a way of looking at what is already there and finding the beauty in it. No experience is needed, only curiosity.
A chair is the simplest object in a room, and the first reason to sit down together. That is where La Chaise began. Communities often need a reason to gather, one that doesn’t involve buying something. We want to offer that reason. Make more and consume less. Learn through exchange with the person beside you. This time we wanted to go further than an afternoon and give the process room to breathe over two days, because we believe the more we create together, the better we feel.
- Day 1, Friday
Arrival at 10:00, introduction to the technique collagraph and the why of this weekend, followed by a walk together with local Artist @ludovicchappex and foraging, lunch cooked together. Initiation on the workshop, sunset drinks at the barn and a community dinner night.
- Day 2, Saturday
Breakfast, continue inking, printing and creating, brunch, and a closing creative circle at 15:30.
🍂Food, materials and guidance are included. Accommodation and transport not included but we can assist with that.
The group is small, and the workshop is guided in English, French, Spanish and Italian.
The weekend is hosted by @vanessa_rothschild of @le.baron.perche , with @luciaharrison (creative director and photographer) and @paulapetite.art (visual artist and graphic designer), co-founders of @lachaise.community.
