And our tables are set, and Paula is taking a quiet moment with the view before tomorrow. Tomorrow we open the doors of @le.baron.perche in Sarreyer for a day of walking, creating and sharing a table together. We start with a walk, then print with collagraph and cook lunch together, and we finish with a community pizza night. Two SPOTS are still open at the local price. You are welcome for Friday OR both days, fifteen minutes from Verbier. Book your place through the link in our bio, or comment “CREATE” if any questions send us a message. đŸ«¶đŸŒ @le.baron.perche @lachaise.community by @lachaise.community
Low season, they said. Nothing happening in town
Well, this Saturday at @natural.law whilst the snow was falling outside, our table was full. People came to try something new, cyanotype. There were the snacks more this time since some people brought more to share, ideas going back and forth across the table, and that little moment when the paper goes into the water and the blue shows up. Everyone getting excited about their own creations đŸ€ That’s what we love about these workshops. It’s not only what you take home. It’s sitting at the same table with people you might not have met otherwise, and making something together. Next up is this Friday and Saturday at @le.baron.perche in Sarreyer: a new printing technique: COLLAGRAPH, a long table with the best view sunny weather, local food and local artists. We still have a few spots, and we’ve made a local price so it’s easier for everyone to join. Come just on Friday or stay for both days. đŸ—“ïžComment CREATE and we’ll send you the link, or write to us at contact@lachaise.community. đŸ€Thank you to everyone who keeps showing up and keeps these workshops alive. And to @natural.law, for always opening the door. We speak EN · FR · IT · ES. Pets welcome, just let us know before. More info link in bio đŸ€ by @lachaise.community
Comment « CREATE » and we’ll send you the full programme and booking link. Two Days of Making in Sarreyer La Chaise × Le Baron PerchĂ© Friday 30 – Saturday 31 October « When we enter a place, the place enters us too. » @le.baron.perche is Vanessa’s home, and its barn is the muse of this weekend. We’ll begin outside, walking the land with a local artist and gathering leaves, grasses and fallen textures. Then we’ll bring them to the table and turn them into collagraph plates. Collagraph is a printmaking technique where every vein, fibre and thread you lay down shows up on paper. It is a way of looking at what is already there and finding the beauty in it. No experience is needed, only curiosity. A chair is the simplest object in a room, and the first reason to sit down together. That is where La Chaise began. Communities often need a reason to gather, one that doesn’t involve buying something. We want to offer that reason. Make more and consume less. Learn through exchange with the person beside you. This time we wanted to go further than an afternoon and give the process room to breathe over two days, because we believe the more we create together, the better we feel. - Day 1, Friday Arrival at 10:00, introduction to the technique collagraph and the why of this weekend, followed by a walk together with local Artist @ludovicchappex and foraging, lunch cooked together. Initiation on the workshop, sunset drinks at the barn and a community dinner night. - Day 2, Saturday Breakfast, continue inking, printing and creating, brunch, and a closing creative circle at 15:30. 🍂Food, materials and guidance are included. Accommodation and transport not included but we can assist with that. The group is small, and the workshop is guided in English, French, Spanish and Italian. The weekend is hosted by @vanessa_rothschild of @le.baron.perche , with @luciaharrison (creative director and photographer) and @paulapetite.art (visual artist and graphic designer), co-founders of @lachaise.community. What you make is yours, and so is the decision of what it becomes. #sarreyer #valdebagnes #workshop #switzerland #creativeretreat by @lachaise.community
Our October to feel Trees don’t carry into winter what they no longer need, and this in-between month is a good time to ask what we’re carrying ourselves. The town goes quiet, the light comes in low, and there’s finally room to make something slowly, next to people you didn’t know before for some strange reason
We’ve built the month around two printmaking techniques that work with what autumn drops. - Saturday 24 October, 13:30–16:30, at @natural.law , Verbier. Cyanotype: sun printing on treated paper. Friday 30 to Saturday 31 October, in Sarreyer with @le.baron.perche. Collagraph, over two days in a 200-year-old barn. You build a plate from leaves, stems and fabric, ink it and press it, then leave it overnight. The work changes when you come back to it rested, and the second day usually goes somewhere you didn’t plan. Come gather creatively this October. Comment OCTOBER for the link to book your spots. 🍂 by @lachaise.community
Gather differently, without the need to consume. But creating together around a table in a barn surrounded by nature. Lately, our hands mostly scroll. For more than two million years they did something else: they shaped, pressed, built and mended. It is one of the oldest ways we have of working out what to do next, and of being useful to each other. So for two days we sit at one long table with makers, artists and neighbours, put the screens away and give our hands the job again. You can change how you think about a problem, and how you meet the person next to you. And you leave feeling a little better, with something you made. 30–31 October, in a two-hundred-year-old barn in Sarreyer, near Verbier. A walk with a local artist, printing by hand, shared meals, no experience needed. Ten to twelve places. Early bird until 17th October. Comment CREATE and we’ll send you everything. « The more your create, the better you feel đŸ€Â Â» La Chaise × Le Baron PerchĂ© @lachaise.community · @le.baron.perche by @lachaise.community
We are so excited to share this with you. On Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October, La Chaise and Le Baron PerchĂ© are opening the doors of a barn in Sarreyer, high in the Swiss Alps, for our first long-format creative weekend in nature. We have wanted to do this for a long time. Our workshops have always been about making something with your hands, but a few hours is rarely enough to slow down. This time we have given it two full days: time to walk, to cook, to talk, to make, and to see what comes up when nobody is in a rush. We begin outside, walking the land around the barn with a local artist and gathering what we find. Then, around one big table, we turn it into a collagraph print by hand. We share lunch cooked together with local products, watch the sun go down from the barn, and on Saturday we close with a creative circle. No experience needed. Only curiosity, and the wish to sit down and make something together. We are keeping the group small, so everyone has a place at the table. Come for Day 1, or stay for both days. Want to join us? Comment CREATE below and we will send you the full details and the early bird link straight to your messages. You can also write to us at contact@lachaise.community. We can’t wait to meet you there. La Chaise x Le Baron PerchĂ© Sarreyer · 30–31 October by @lachaise.community
Someone once told us, before our workshop, “I’m not creative.” A few hours later, she had created her first paper lamp and she was so impressed that she was capable of creating something with her own hands. We spend so much of our lives being told which box we fit into. Creative or not. Artistic or not. As if it’s something you’re born with or without, like eye color. It isn’t. Studies show that creativity isn’t one part of you lighting up. It’s two parts learning to hold hands, the part that dreams, and the part that shapes. Most days, in our busy lives, they never meet. This is what we allow to happen at La CHAISE; by fostering a new way to share ideas and create alongside others at the same table, opening up to new people you normally wouldn’t have met, even living in the same town. We’re not teaching a craft. We’re opening a door you already had the key to. Tomorrow we’re opening the doors again at @natural.law for our next La Chaise workshop: Paper Lamps. Before we start making, we’ll have a small Meet the Artist moment with textile artist @anna_van_dorsten . We’ll sit together with some snacks and drinks and talk about her work, her process, and the ideas behind it: softness, protection, the body, motherhood, shelter, and the way materials can hold memory. Then we’ll move into making. Using paper, wire, papier-mĂąchĂ©, texture and light, everyone will create their own handmade paper lamp or light object from scratch. No need to know anything beforehand, the whole point is to try, touch, shape, mess up a little, and see what comes out. This is why we started La Chaise. Not just to make beautiful objects, but to create moments where people can gather differently. Where conversations happen naturally, where you meet people you wouldn’t normally meet, where your hands are busy and your head gets quieter. The more we create, the better we feel. And honestly, we need more of that. Tomorrow — Monday 20 July 📍 Natural Law, Verbier 13:45–14:15 Meet the Artist with Anna van Dorsten Free entry 14:30–17:00 Paper Lamps Workshop Tickets still available until tonight (link in bio) We can guide you in English, French, Italian & Spanish. Crochet Basics, this Sunday There is a particular kind of quiet that settles over a table when hands are busy. Over, under, pull through, repeat. Stitch by stitch, a rhythm takes hold, conversation loosens, and something small begins to exist that wasn’t there before. This Sunday, 4 October, from 16:30 to 19:30, we gather at Natural Law for a beginner’s introduction to crochet. We’ll learn how to hold the hook and yarn, find our tension, and practise the essential stitches. Then each person begins a first piece of their own, to take home and keep going. All materials, light snacks and drinks are included, book your spot link in bio or comment CROCHET and we will send it over to you đŸ«¶đŸŒ Places are limited. Book ahead through the link in our bio, or write to us directly at contact@lachaise.community or on WhatsApp at +41 76 623 12 45. We speak English, French, Italian and Spanish, and pets are welcome if you let us know in advance. With thanks to @natural.law for hosting us. by @lachaise.community
There is a particular kind of quiet that happens around a table full of hands at work. You are finally not consuming, no one scrolling on their phones; but true attention to what is happening there at that moment, given to something small and real. This is what we build at our workshops: a table where strangers arrive as strangers and leave having made something together. Not a class. Not a hobby you check off a list. A pause, deliberately shaped, in the middle of a life that rarely offers one. You come with your own reason, whatever that is, and you don’t need to explain it. What matters is what happens once you sit down: the noticing slows, the hands take over, the conversation starts somewhere unplanned. By the end, you’ve made an object. You’ve also, quietly, made a small piece of community. We think creation is best done in company. That’s the whole idea. La Chaise, a seat for ideas. 📍 Natural Law Verbier · @natural.law · link in bio for booking your spot in our next workshop Monday 20th, July đŸ€ by @lachaise.community
CEMENT WORKSHOP, THURSDAY 30th from 18h30 For our 5th La Chaise workshop, we will be exploring cement as a creative material. This workshop is an introduction to the basic techniques of cement mixing, mould-making and small object casting. We will work with cement, sand and water to create small handmade pieces such as pots, trays, candle holders, decorative plates and experimental forms. Participants will learn how to prepare a fine cement mix, how to control the amount of water, how to use silicone moulds, and how to build simple handmade moulds using cardboard, tape, wood and found objects. Creativity is not only something we think about. It is something we practice, a process, a method, and a physical act. That is why we create these workshops: to make space for people to slow down, use their hands, and meet each other through the act of making. This one will be a little messy, so bring clothes you are happy getting dirty. A huge thank you to @natural.law for opening this space in town and supporting the community as this little project keeps growing. We are very excited to be sharing our 5th workshop with you. Thursday 30 July 18:30–20:45 Natural Law, Verbier Only a few spots left. Book your ticket through the link in our bio, message us for more information, or comment “CEMENT” to receive the link directly to your inbox.📹 See you around the table đŸ€ by @lachaise.community
Every La Chaise workshop starts with the same idea: you already know how to create. We’re not just gathering people around a table and some materials; we’re gathering them around a reminder. That making isn’t a skill reserved for “creative people.” It’s something we all carry, and most of us just stopped using it somewhere between growing up and getting busy. You leave with something you made with your own hands. And a little bit more trust in yourself than when you walked in. 📍 Next up: Thu, Aug 6 · 18:30–21:00: Photo Transfer + Embroidery & Painting Workshop, Natural Law Mon, Aug 10 · 14:00–17:00: Self-Portrait: Photography + Acrylic Painting Workshop, Natural Law (COMMENT “CREATE MORE” FOR THE LINK) Come make something. Even if you don’t know what yet. Thank you @natural.law for allowing thisđŸ€ by @lachaise.community
