Featuring Bernard Creely, one of 30 artists in our show ‘Connected:Disconnected’, currently at Photofusion in Brixton.

Bernard has made a great flipbook of his work ’Starling Murmurations Have No Leader’, on display at the exhibition.

‘During a Starling murmuration each bird tracks only 7 of its neighbours with each individual
connecting, disconnecting and adjusting its speed to match its neighbour’s movement,’ says Bernard. ‘This picture is one of a progression of roughly 300 shot on a Fujifilm X10 set to contiuous mode. On the train home from Brighton I held down the camera playback in one hand and recorded the single images (displayed on the X10 camera screen) on to a mobile phone set to video thus producing an animated sequence of connected pictures capturing the coordinated movement of the murmuration.’
