6 days agoFor capitalism to function, there’s an inherent need for abelism. Under capitalism, the value of a person is based on the monetary contribution they give to society. Since people that are disabled are often unable to work, in the purely capitalistic world view, it makes them a ‘net negative’. It’s literally built into our system and it’s so insane
6 days agoThe wild part is I know deep down the people who harass disabled people for not working (or not working standard hours) are also miserable at work, they’ve just been brainwashed to believe that suffering is noble. I also think that is the root of a lot of lateral and internalized ableism.
6 days agoI get so much shit from people for only being able to work 5-6 hours instead of a full 8 when theres people put there WHO CANT EVEN WORK BECUASE OF THEIR DISABILITY 😭
7 days agoI quit TikTok because of how bad the ableism got. Nobody on the miserable app is happy. All they do is talk about each other and then claim they’re “leftists” LMAOOO. It’s pathetic.
7 days agoPeople are rude. The fact that we base our worth around how much labour we can perform is disturbing
7 days agoEveryone on TikTok is a leftist until a disabled/chronically ill person can’t be another cog in the capitalist machine
