Hellborg and Wal.
"My first Wal I bought at MUG in Gothenburg late 70's. It was a Pro IIE.
After I became an Aria endorser I ran into Wal and Pete (the original duo who made these fantastic instruments) at the Frankfurt Musikmesse. They very kindly offered to build me something so I suggested a fretted/fretless doubleneck. They already had built the triple neck for Roger Newell so it was not entirely new territory.
I was over in High Wycombe (location of Wal workshop at the time) to be involved in the development.
On the 1st of July I was in Paris for rehearsals with John McLaughlin the bass was ready and Pete (the Fish) came over with the Rolling Stones mobile recording studio (his side gig) to record a double bill concert with Santana and Bob Dylan.
That is were we met and he handed me this exquisite creation. That is where the pic is from, you can see that I am very happy.
I still have it, in fact I just played about an hour ago. :)"
