서울을 기반으로 하는 디자인 스튜디오 ‘p(erson)al’(@p_erson_al)는 박우진(@wjp___)이 설립한 스튜디오인데요. 산업재료를 출발점으로 삼아, 디자이너 개인의 시선을 통해 새로운 형태와 기능으로 다시 만들어 냅니다.

스튜디오의 로고이기도 한 수평계(Spirit Level)는 작업 전반을 관통하는 요소입니다. 물리적인 균형을 재는 도구인 동시에, 객관성과 주관성·기준과 해석 사이에서 끊임없이 균형점을 찾는 태도를 담고 있습니다.

PU-T-B Work Chair - Designed by Woojin Park of @p_erson_al .

This chair uses polyurethane tubes, aluminium profiles, and bolts to create its structure. Instead of hiding how it’s made, every connection remains visible, relying on tension, compression, and material friction to hold the chair together.

Design that makes its construction part of the final form.

PU-T-B is a structural system based on the physical tension and compression generated when a polyurethane tube (PU-Tube) is fastened with a bolt. A bolt passing through the inner diameter of the tube transforms the material’s inherent elasticity and friction into structural holding force, enabling stable connections without the need for complex joint mechanisms.

By utilizing the intrinsic properties of TPU, including high elasticity, flexibility, durability, and tensile strength, the system visually translates points of load into lines and planes. Originating from simplified structural experiments and extending into furniture and hardware, PU-T-B presents fastening itself as a language through which structure and form are articulated.

PU-T-B는 폴리우레탄 튜브(PU Tube)와 볼트(Bolt)가 결합될 때 발생하는 물리적 긴장과 압축력을 기반으로 한 구조 시스템이다. 튜브의 내경을 관통해 체결된 볼트는 재료 고유의 탄성과 마찰력을 구조적 고정력으로 전환하며, 별도의 복잡한 결합 방식 없이도 안정적인 연결을 형성한다.

이 시스템은 TPU 소재가 지닌 높은 탄성, 유연성, 내구성, 인장강도의 특성을 활용해, 하중을 받는 지점을 선과 면의 구조로 드러낸다. PU-T-B 는 단순한 구조 실험에서 출발해 가구와 하드웨어로 확장되며, 체결 방식 자체가 구조와 형태를 드러내는 하나의 언어로 작용한다.
