A Day on Earth is coming to the UK for its premiere at Wildscreen Festival 2026. Our feature documentary reaches a new milestone at Wildscreen, one of the world’s leading festivals for natural world storytelling, known for its prestigious Panda Awards.

Filmed entirely by 76 Indigenous, Afro-descendant and local community filmmakers across 27 countries and five continents, A Day on Earth brings together perspectives on our relationship with nature, our shared humanity and the futures already being shaped by communities around the world.

On Wednesday, October 21, join us in Bath for two special events:

What a year for @adayonearthfilm! Another major recognition for the film: Wildscreen Official Selection Programme 2026.

With 30 films from 20 countries, this year’s Official Selection brings together original stories, diverse voices and new ways of seeing the natural world. For A Day on Earth, this means bringing the work of 76 filmmakers across 27 countries to new audiences, and creating further opportunities for these stories and storytellers to travel beyond the screen.

We are proud to see their work recognized and to be part of a program connecting powerful stories with audiences around the world.

A Day on Earth is a finalist for the 2026 Jackson Wild Media Awards, in the Global Stories: Long Form category. 🌎🎬

A Day on Earth (@adayonearthfilm) tells stories from the territories, shifting who holds the camera, whose perspective shapes the story, and which forms of knowledge and ways of seeing are given space on screen.

Opening new paths in filmmaking is not always easy. Being recognized by @jacksonwildorg alongside stories from around the world is an important moment for the filmmakers and communities shaping this collective process.

The film brings together Indigenous, Afro-descendant and local storytellers across a wide spectrum of professional and technical experience, from seasoned filmmakers to first-time contributors.

Thank you to the 76 filmmakers who filmed across 27 countries, all on one day on Earth, and to the communities who made these stories possible.

This video takes us back to the Rights & Nature Hub during London Climate Action Week 2026, where Indigenous leaders, storytellers, artists, funders, partners, and allies came together to exchange ideas, strengthen relationships, and explore new collaborations. Together with Forests, People, Climate (FPC), Jacobs Futura Foundation, @tenurefacility, and @synchearth , we helped bring this shared space to life.

Hear from Indigenous leaders, filmmakers, partners, and allies as they reflect on the conversations, collaborations, and experiences that have defined this journey.

For more than 12 years, If Not Us Then Who? has collaborated with Indigenous Peoples, Afro-descendant communities, and local communities through filmmaking, mentorship, creative residencies, and storytelling initiatives across the world.

To be within the cycle of life.

Impact begins long before the camera rolls. For director, storyteller, and father, Paul Redman (@p_redman), film isn’t just representation — it is our relationships, resistance, and renewal.

Redman is founder and executive director of If Not Us Then Who, a global organization of storytellers dedicated to diversifying climate voices and highlighting the work of Indigenous communities.

The organization celebrates the near end of revisions for A Day on Earth, an impact documentary featuring a day in the lives of 76 Indigenous and local community storytellers, all of whom filmed on Earth Day of 2025.

We spoke with Redman about the makings of the film up until the present, and the curious intersect it had with his personal life.

Over a decade ago, the If Not Us Then Who? team, previously known as Handcrafted; Paul (@p_redman), Tim (@timlewis77), Hugo (@metzhugo)and Joel (@joelredman1) traveled to the Philippines to document the devastating impact of Super Typhoon Haiyan, the most powerful storm ever to make landfall. In November 2013, Haiyan destroyed much of Tacloban City on the island of Visayas, with an estimated 15,000 lives lost.
That same month, during the UN Climate Conference, UN Climate Commissioner Yeb Saño gave a moving speech that inspired the shift from Handcrafted to If Not Us Then Who? a name that reflects our mission.

This award-winning documentary, honoured in the Environmental Film category at the Canada International Film Festival, remains a stark reminder of the human cost of climate change. We are in a #ClimateEmergency and must act now.

For over ten years, together with allies, we committed to standing up with those on the frontlines of the climate crisis, amplifying their voices and their fight for justice.
