A Day on Earth is a finalist for the 2026 Jackson Wild Media Awards, in the Global Stories: Long Form category. 🌎🎬

A Day on Earth (@adayonearthfilm) tells stories from the territories, shifting who holds the camera, whose perspective shapes the story, and which forms of knowledge and ways of seeing are given space on screen.

Opening new paths in filmmaking is not always easy. Being recognized by @jacksonwildorg alongside stories from around the world is an important moment for the filmmakers and communities shaping this collective process.

The film brings together Indigenous, Afro-descendant and local storytellers across a wide spectrum of professional and technical experience, from seasoned filmmakers to first-time contributors.

Thank you to the 76 filmmakers who filmed across 27 countries, all on one day on Earth, and to the communities who made these stories possible.

If a place is not marked on a map, it does not mean it is empty. 'Weave the Heart Beyond the Map' is an immersive exhibition that invites us to look beyond borders and reconsider what maps leave unseen. Through the stories of the Ayoreo (Paraguay), the Awá (Brazil), and the O’Hongana Manyawa (Indonesia), it explores the lives, territories, and resilience of Indigenous Peoples in Isolation and Initial Contact (PIACI), and reminds us that some of the world’s most important forests are also living homes.Created with Quipa, Iniciativa Amotocodie, Rainforest Foundation Norway, Indigenous leaders, artists, and partners, the exhibition asks us to reflect on a simple idea:“The distance is respect. The distance is also a form of love.”

As we approach the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, we invite you to learn more about the communities, the stories, and the organizations behind this work: weavetheheart.earth

This video takes us back to the Rights & Nature Hub during London Climate Action Week 2026, where Indigenous leaders, storytellers, artists, funders, partners, and allies came together to exchange ideas, strengthen relationships, and explore new collaborations. Together with Forests, People, Climate (FPC), Jacobs Futura Foundation, @tenurefacility, and @synchearth , we helped bring this shared space to life.

Hear from Indigenous leaders, filmmakers, partners, and allies as they reflect on the conversations, collaborations, and experiences that have defined this journey.

For more than 12 years, If Not Us Then Who? has collaborated with Indigenous Peoples, Afro-descendant communities, and local communities through filmmaking, mentorship, creative residencies, and storytelling initiatives across the world.

We are honored to announce that A Day on Earth has been nominated for a Wildscreen Panda Award! 🌍✨

This nomination brings to the fore a collective archive of the joys, fears, and dreams of communities from across 27 countries. A Day on Earth is a collective portrait of a planet under pressure, and the people holding it together.

Captured from the eyes of 76 Indigenous, Afro-descendant, and local storytellers, we are shifting the global narrative and co-creating a living history with the people living closest to the planet. This nomination is a powerful recognition of the vision and agency of our frontline collaborators.

Thank you to the Wildscreen community for this recognition and to our incredible network of filmmakers for making this vision possible.

See you @wildscreenorg in Bath this October!

As #LCAW2026 comes to a close, we're grateful for the people who are taking action every day, especially Indigenous Peoples, Afro-descendants, and local community members who made long journeys to speak out in London during record heat waves.

Throughout the week, we've been reminded why funding climate solutions at the source matters and why the work rainforest communities do in their territories sustains all life on earth, and therefore must be supported.

Day 1 at the Rights & Nature Hub was a day of memory, movement, and vision. The GATC (@globalalliancet) Opening Event traced 11 years of the Global Alliance of Territorial Communities through the voices of those who built it and those carrying it forward, including the premiere of a participatory documentary with Indigenous and community voices across three continents.

The afternoon brought philanthropists, wealth advisers, and donor-advised fund holders into conversation with grassroots conservationists, exploring how healthy ecosystems underpin climate resilience, human health, food security, and the survival of cultures and communities.

12 years of @ifnotusthenwho storytelling also came into the room, filmmakers and community communicators sharing what this work means from where they stand.

The day closed with a welcoming ceremony and the opening of the Weaving the Heart Beyond the Map exhibition. Thank you to everyone who was part of it.
