When you ask God for more, be prepared for Him to build your capacity for more.

You must know that capacity building rarely feels comfortable. It stretches you. It challenges what you know. It requires growth, discipline and sometimes becoming someone you haven’t had to be before.

We often pray for expansion without realising that before the more arrives, there may first be a season of making room for it.

So when the stretching comes, don’t automatically assume something is going wrong. Perhaps you’re simply being prepared to carry what you asked for.

Make room. Get ready for more. You are going to need it⛺️🪏

WORLD SUI*IDE PREVENTION DAY |

In 2018, I survived another attempt to *nd my life. Almost eight years later, I’m deeply grateful to God that I am still here, and grateful for the family and friends who have walked with me along the way🥹

As a Christian woman navigating mental-health challenges, one of the biggest things I’ve had to learn is that loving God and needing help are not opposites.

I believe in prayer. I believe the Word of God. I believe God heals, restores and sustains us. But I’ve also learned to care for myself holistically; spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically. Sometimes that has meant prayer. Sometimes professional support. Sometimes rest, boundaries, community or simply being honest that I am not okay.

I think we still have a long way to go in how we speak about mental health, particularly in Christian spaces. We can be quick to spiritualise what we don’t understand, when some people are carrying deep trauma, grief and pain that we cannot see.

Someone can love God deeply and still struggle.

So if there is one thing these almost eight years have taught me, it is to be kinder. To listen. To educate ourselves before we judge. And as Christians, to remember how Christ treated people who were hurting - with compassion, dignity and love♥️
