Wow! What can I say. It took me a while to post, but we had an absolutely great time in Berlin and a quick 1.5 day in Amsterdam. It was a hot one 🥵. The marathon was unseasonably hot with a temp of 81F w/ 60% humidity. I took my time and earned my 3rd star with pride. My husband and I ate and drank very well, met a lot of good people, and made it a memorable trip. Congratulations to everyone showed up to the start line and my heart and prayers are still with those who encountered heat related injuries on race day. Thank you Berlin @berlinmarathon 🇩🇪 and my husband @stephenellison80 for supporting my crazy run dreams 🤪. I love you 😘!

Congratulations again to Ms. Marilyn Bevans for her 50th Anniversary for becoming the 1st US born black female to break 3 hours in the marathon distance at Boston. The wisdom you give is ALWAYS valuable. We appreciate you and we honor you for paving the way. I will take your personal advice you gave to me and I will keep it in my rucksack.

@vcpmitchell and @districtrunningcollective Thank you for hyping me up at mile 22 🤪. I needed that‼️

Man, did it feel good to just run and not race. I crossed the finish line able to talk and walk without being out of breath and I still have all my toenails and they are cute, imagine that 🙌🏽 😂. I made sure I was in the moment for every single mile enjoying the experience.

I cannot forget the @ifit team and crew for being so gracious and hospitable before we toed the line to become unicorns 💙💛. Thank you! You all are truly a blessing!

Berlin is up next for my third world major ⭐️⭐️⭐️. Will I run for a time or will I enjoy the experience? We’ll see 😉.

Starting over doesn’t mean starting from scratch.

After years away from running, Coach Maya returned to the track during COVID in her forties. She qualified for Boston after her first marathon, then ran three more that same year. In the newest PWRHER’D blog, she shares how perimenopause, strength training, and recovery shaped her comeback, and why “different” doesn’t mean “less capable.”
