Starting over doesn’t mean starting from scratch.

After years away from running, Coach Maya returned to the track during COVID in her forties. She qualified for Boston after her first marathon, then ran three more that same year. In the newest PWRHER’D blog, she shares how perimenopause, strength training, and recovery shaped her comeback, and why “different” doesn’t mean “less capable.”

Maybe it’s been five years. Maybe fifteen. Your dreams don’t have an expiration date.

Meet Coach Maya, one of our very own #GameChangers⚡️

We asked Maya about how she started running, what race she has coming up, and how she’s coaching at the moment…Thank you, Coach Maya, for all that you do and how you change the game every day! 💜

For The Motherland cradle of civilization.
For the ancestors and their indomitable spirit.
For the elders from whom we can learn much.
For our youth who represent the promise for tomorrow.
For our people the original people.
For our struggle and in remembrance of those who have struggled on our behalf.
For Umoja the principle of unity which should guide us in all that we do.
For The Creator who provides all things great and small.

💜 My miles looked different this weekend. I didn’t run the marathon, but I supported one! And honestly? That joy is my #MedalMonday moment. Being with my #GameChangers⚡️ fam and watching runners crush their goals filled my cup. Come feel this energy and #RunRichmond next year!

💥 Game Changers are coming to Richmond!

We’re uniting coaches from across the country: DC, FL, IL, KS, MD, NC, NJ, OK, PA, TX — and our local Richmond, VA crew — for an unforgettable weekend at the Richmond Marathon @richmondmarathon for our fall Race Meet Up.

🗓️ Don’t miss the Game Changers Panel this Friday 11/14 @ 12:30 PM at the Marathon Expo! Blessed to moderate this panel featuring Coaches: Athena Farias @endurafitsatx , Becky Croft @coach.croft , Tia Pettygrue @marathonliftgirl & Tiffany Copeland @herbnrun. This panel will dig deep into conversations that uplift, educate, and empower every runner to boldly keep moving forward ✨!

📺 Catch us on 12 On Your Side @12onyourside this Wed 11/12 as reporter Destini Harris shares our story through the lens of local VA Coach Tiffany, one of our original Game Changers!

We’re also excited to bring Game Changers together for a photoshoot courtesy of our Presenting Sponsor @brooksrunning and we’re looking forward to connecting with local businesses, crews & supporters who have championed equity and solidarity in this work.

Find us at the expo, at the panel, out on the course or at your local mom and pop because Game Changers are ready to #RunRichmond ⚡️!
