Posting a throwback this Thursday (is that still a thing? Asking for a friend). I've been in such bad flares for so many months but I thought I'd come back on and say hi with a reintroduction post! I'm Pacey of Pacey's Place and welcome to my space of all things art, advocacy, singing, and more. I've been chronically ill for 22 years (23 on 4/24) and enjoy using this space to spread awareness for my illnesses, sing when I'm able, talk about voting rights, and much more. I volunteer when I'm able with @rowesresearchrunners @Whenweallvote @votesaveamerica @nextgenamerica & more. @playfullyunmasked
Hoping to volunteer with @opencircletheatre soon! Musical theatre is my first love and dreamed of being in show business in some way!🎭 I also wanted to be a psychologist at some point for people with chronic illnesses. Advocating helps combine my different passions together. ❤️

In 2020, my fellow When We All Vote volunteers & I hosted a music filled voter registration event called Voices for Voting. @ndeye.sock & I co-emceed & both sang songs from Hamilton. I sang "The Story Of Tonight" (Lin-Manuel Miranda is a co-chair of the nonpartisan organization When We All Vote), since this song has such a crucial message. Now more than ever, we must come together to participate in our democracy & have others join us. There's much work to be done, but I have hope that we can do it together. Voting is one way we can engage in our communities. Another way is to help end Gerrymandering through nonpartisan organizations like @ourcommoncause
I know some people feel discouraged from voting, but your voice really does make a difference, especially in your local & state levels.

There are so many ways you can be a part of change. I'm truly grateful to be able to be a chapter leader with @whenweallvote from home due to my chronic illnesses & I hope that you will get involved in any way you can.

Register to vote, update your voter registration (if you've recently moved or changed your name) & check your voter registration status at weall.vote/voter

I joined #DisabledAnd to show the world that Chronically Ill and Disabled people can do the things we love and make a difference in society if and when we're given the accommodations we need. Last year, I was able to virtually volunteer for the wonderful nonpartisan organization When We All Vote and co-hosted/sang for a music filled Virtual Voter Registration Event. I'm passionate about advocating for many different causes, including voting, civil and Disability rights. The performing and visual arts are also another passion of mine that I've had to figure out how to adapt to fit my needs. Being able to sing on Instagram and YouTube when I have some energy is a dream come true.
I'm truly grateful, but I wouldn't have been able to do any of this if it weren't for the increased accessibility due to the pandemic. We must all work together to ensure the accessibility stays in place for those of us who will still be home and continue to have virtual events.

Reposting this in honor of Celine Dion's epic return! I know how it feels when a neurological condition changes your ability to sing and have to learn to modify and do what's best for your body. I miss performing everyday and I'll find a way back to it that is accessible to me. ❤️

I'm fundraising and virtually walking (or lying in bed, depending on the severity of my symptoms) for the outstanding team at the Chronic Fatigue and Related Disorders Clinic for the 10th Anniversary of the Walk, Run, Roll. Dr. Rowe has semi-retired and my care is now in the hands of the wonderful Sarah Frank, DNP!

The team are experts on dysautonomia, which is any illness that affects the Autonomic Nervous System, including POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome), in addition to Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, Connective Tissue Disorder, and related illnesses, now including Long COVID. These are serious neurological diseases that cause many debilitating symptoms and need much more funding. We currently don't have any FDA treatments and have to use medications off-label to treat a myriad of symptoms.

I have been disabled by these illnesses and I'm unable to work due to the severity of my symptoms or go to college. I hope to be able to do more in the future with the help of the clinic.

Your unwavering support to me over these past 23 years has been truly remarkable, as well as your support of Rowe's Research Runners.

August 8th is Severe ME Awareness Day. ME aka ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) is a chronic illness I've lived with since I was 10 years old (I've been chronically ill for 23 years). I was not diagnosed until I was 17 even though I was diagnosed with POTS at 12. ME/CFS currently has no FDA treatments or a cure.
I love to sing and perform, but these illnesses make it extremely difficult. I wanted to study musical theatre and my dream was to be on Broadway and to also be a singer. I'm grateful I can still when I'm able and post it online for everyone.

I wanted to sing "This is Me" from The Greatest Showman to raise awareness. No copyright infringement intended.
