The Madness of MINGLE!

Probably the most fun I’ve had scoring on Squid. EP04 Mingle - in each round the contestants must group themselves into a specified number and get to a room to lock themselves in. Anyone left not in a group, is eliminated.

The music needed to be chaotic and chaos is REALLY good fun! 😈

Back in January @sebgillmore sent me some voice notes of @dan_avasilcai telling the story of his journey into bodybuilding. From a childhood inspired by the great heroes of Greek mythology to a career as a champion bodybuilder. I was hooked immediately and set about creating a score to help Seb bring this story to life on film.

LINK IN BIO: Umbra (the shadow) - Take a worthwhile 6 minutes to enjoy this excellent film.

Such a pleasure to work on another excellent project of Seb’s, amongst an increasingly brilliant team of people! In particular a nod to my colleagues in noise-making @patricklee.sound @brother___music for the superb sound design and mix.

Final gallery delivered 🎞️📸 a wedding up on the moors, close to home. A wonderful celebration. About community, joy, love and much, much music.

As always, a mixture of digital and film.

A big thank you to my exceptionally talented wife @victoriabarronstudios for seconding for me - many more to come.

S2 of Squid Game: The Challenge starts today on Netflix! The brilliant people at @studiolambert and @thegardenproductions have produced even more wonderful chaos and some wicked new games, with twists and turns a plenty!

Such a pleasure to write music for this show and I feel lucky to be part of a team of several hundred that make this show happen. Thanks to @stephenyemoh Anna Wood, Gareth Walker and Carla Bithell for being a joy to work with.

And with a new series comes a new re-working of Kim Sungsoo’s Pink Soldiers. It’s a particularly special part of this job getting to sample and interpolate this superb piece of music and hopefully doing it justice with my own reimagining! (swipe)

In August 2015 I sent my first invoice for writing a piece of music for something, so as of this month I have been a professional composer for ten years. Cue a long rambling post about the ups and downs of trying to make a career of writing music for TV & Film…..well that’s not very me! So, just a very heartfelt THANK YOU to all the collaborators that I’ve been very lucky to work with so far. This industry often feels like a ridiculously tough door to get through, so a thank you also to the many helpers and friends along the way! Here’s to the next ten! xx

NEW WORK: Feeling appropriately stoked to work with one of the world’s best big mountain skiers @codytownsend on his new project @the.fifty.plus - building on his previous adventure The Fifty Project, in which he attempted to climb and ski all 50 of the greatest lines in North America. As a longtime follower of Cody’s bonkers skiing, it was a pleasure to create a new opening theme for the series - re-working elements of the original series music into something new. ⛷️🎹

First episode drops on YouTube 30th October
