Final gallery delivered 🎞️📸 a wedding up on the moors, close to home. A wonderful celebration. About community, joy, love and much, much music.

As always, a mixture of digital and film.

A big thank you to my exceptionally talented wife @victoriabarronstudios for seconding for me - many more to come.

Our first full co-score and a long time in the making (although one of three we’ve completed together now!), John Dower’s fantastic new feature The Balloonists is in UK cinemas TODAY and the soundtrack is out NOW in all of the places.

An amazing story of adventure and persistence as in 1999, the unlikely duo of storied Swiss explorer Bertrand Piccard and British flying instructor Brian Jones take on the world’s leading aeronauts and billionaires, in a race to become the first to fly non-stop around the world in a balloon.

We wanted to write music with a sense of adventure, of optimism and of strife against the odds. It’s also a love story, and we hope we reflected that too.

Huge thanks to everyone at Rise Films especially Teddy Liefer and Guy Horlock for their support; to John Dower for his brilliant storytelling, to super-editor David Charap for his insights, to Dave Rodger @daveish_rodger for his amazing musical mind - to all our friends at Manners Faber as ever, and above all to the brilliant musicians who lent us their talents. Swipe for the credits.

Go and watch; go and listen - enjoy The Balloonists!

Premiering at Toronto International Film Festival today, this fantastic story of two unlikely heroes- a tale of tenacity and quiet determination - directed by the great John Dower. What a pleasure for the two of us to score this brilliant film. A lovely opportunity to lean into some big sweeping orchestral melodies and write something with real scale. Thrilled it’s getting out there in the world.

To celebrate, here’s our opening cue and main theme from the film. Hope you enjoy.

Huge thanks to John, to super-editor David Charap, to Teddy Liefer, Guy Horlock, Rise Films, and to our marvellous music team for a great collaboration.
