POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Hi frens!!

I decided to try and film my journey commuting to work yesterday while reading Frankenstein, which btw, is a book I'm really loving so far!! 💜

The bookmark is from @joana_su_art

Today I'm going to my city's book fair and I'm excited! I hope you are all alright! What have you been reading?

hello frens!

I've seen at least 3 different accounts doing this tag and I thought it looked like fun so I decided to give it a try!
It was actually pretty cool to have to think about books, characters, movies and songs I love starting with each letter of my name.. some of them were easier than others and for some I had so many options that what made it hard was having to choose!
So my version of it includes:

I - the Iliad, Ichabod Crane, It follows and Immersion by Mephisto Waltz;

N - Nineteen eighty-four, Nadja of Antipaxos, Nosferatu (1979) and Never let me down again by Depeche Mode;

E - Eat the ones you love, Eve, Edward Scissorhands and Eyes without a face by Billy Idol;

S - Suite Française, Sally, Stuart a life backwards and Sleep by My Chemical Romance.

Consider yourself tagged and happy readings! 💜🦇

I had to read The Iliad and The Odyssey for a class last year so it was really interesting for me to get into this already having some knowledge of the story and mythology surrounding it.
Another thing that got me excited about this book is the fact that I adore Margaret Atwood or at least everything I've read from her so far.

That being said, The Penelopiad was a very interesting perspective on this tale. I loved getting Penelope's perspective. It was really interesting to try to get into the mind of such an important female character and imagine her within the time in which the story supposedly happened.

I really liked the satirical tone, which is very characteristic of Atwood, that she gives Penelope. In The Penelopiad, we get a different and very strong personality when it comes to Helen and we get to imagine the toxic dynamic between the two cousins, which puts a lot of the events into perspective... perhaps more than other works already do!

The relationship dynamics are overall very interesting in this book. Penelope and Odysseus, Penelope and Anticlea, the servant Eurycleia and for me, especially, Penelope and her son Telemachus.

We get to understand this character not only through what happened after Odysseus's departure but from the moment she was born. Everything she walks us through makes her feel very human.

I think it's very important that someone took the servants story and put it in the spotlight as well, giving a voice to those whose stories history has always forgotten or failed to give importance to.

One thing that can't help but cross my mind when reading themes like this is how they always make us measure the times we live in against the ones we're reading about. In a sense, this is one of the reasons why the classics are so important to study: we can relate them to the present. Through studying them, we realise that so many things we have today come from centuries before us.. like our norms, out culture or even the little things we do every day.

And I think The Penelopiad carries a lot of weight when we make that comparison, especially when it comes to women's voices, the way history is told and whose stories are allowed to survive. by @pages.in.mind

Yesterday I decided to tidy up my books a bit.
My bookshelves live at my mum's place and since I'm moving I had to come back to the mother ship with everything I own to figure out what to take with me.

This was also an opportunity for all my books to gather together again, apart from a few that I've lent to friends. I also have some new, temporary additions, such as The Book of Hours by Rilke and a Wolverine comic I'm halfway through, both lent to me by friends and waiting to be returned once I'm finished.

My library is still very small and somehow I still struggle. I forgot to count my books but I can guarantee my mum has at least 800 more than I do, and I still struggled.

I tried to make a pretty reel about it: showing the process, how I decided to organise everything and the criteria I apparently have for organising my books (although, at the same time, I apparently have none).

That didn't work.

Instead, this ended up being a love letter to my cat, who kept "distracting" me simply by lying there and being cute. She was invested though, that I can guarantee! In both my books and the episode of American Horror Story playing in the background.

Hello frens!! 💜

I took inspiration from @drck_ula post. I thought it was really cute. Since I haven't posted in a while, I thought introducing myself through a few "top fives" would be a fun way to make a comeback!

It wasn't easy at all, but I managed to narrow it down to five books, shows, movies and both female and male authors, so you can get to know me a little better.

Of course there are many more than five on each category but these are the ones that resonate with me the most at the moment.

I hope you're all doing well! Life has been quite the carousel lately, actually, for the past few months.
Lots of changes, lots of growth, old patterns repeating themselves (and some I'm finally managing to break) and, above all, a lot of finding my way back to myself. Life happening, I guess.

So, here are some of my fives. Let me know if any of these make it into your own pantheon!

5 Books:
- The Waves, Virginia Woolf;
- Anna Karenina, Leo Tolstoy;
- Suite Française, Irène Némirovsky;
- Letter to my Daughter, Maya Angelou;
- Perfume, Patrick Süskind

5 Shows:
- Twin Peaks;
- Friends;
- Fleabag;
- The Sopranos;
- Breaking Bad

5 Movies:
- Stuart: A Life Backwards;
- Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind;
- Corpse Bride;
- Carrie;
- The Rocky Horror Picture Show

5 Female Authors:
- Virginia Woolf;
- Clarice Lispector;
- Margaret Atwood;
- Leonora Carrington;
- Irène Némirovsky

5 Male Authors:

- Oscar Wilde;
- Leo Tolstoy;

1 year of pages.in.mind! 🎉🎂

On the 8th of May, my page turned 1 year old!!
I feel like I've been neglecting it a bit because of everything that has been going on in my academic and professional life, so even though I'm 4 days late I still wanted to take the time to celebrate this.

I created this page while recovering from knee surgery, and not only was I glued to my bed or the couch (with the love and support of my cat and dog, who you guys have already seen around here), but I was also feeling a really strong urge to create. My mum was the one who encouraged me the most to do this, and I couldn't be more grateful because it became one of the things that brought me the most joy!

Not only did I find a hobby connected to something I love (books), but I also made so many friends who I honestly love deeply both from my country and from all around the globe.

I love this community, the connections I've created, and everything I've found through it. I really, really want to keep this page alive and take care of it because, honestly, it took care of me too.

p.s. yes, I put my books hovering on a set of purple clouds because.. why wouldn't I? ☁️💜

p.s.s. the books I selected were some of my fav reads since I created the page

Much love! xo

This book hit me like a storm, which feels almost ironic considering how bad the weather is where I live right now.

It begins calmly, almost whispering to you. It’s written in a way that makes it incredibly easy to devour, while simultaneously pulling you into a deep immersion through its beautiful prose and introspection.

Once I entered the main story, I felt completely suspended within it. I don’t know if everything simply clicked, if it was the moment I’m in right now, or something else entirely, but I felt deeply connected to many of the characters observations. That connection made it impossible not to love this book.

It makes you think, and it takes you on a journey to Berlin without ever leaving your seat. Beyond enjoying the story, relating to or even disagreeing with the characters, I also felt I was discovering the setting itself, learning about things I hadn’t known before.

This is not a happy book. It is not meant to be hopeful. It is a story that wrecks you, that leaves a hollow in your chest, and whose echo lingers long after you’ve finished reading.

It invites reflection on human connection, emotions, missed chances, the psyche, fragility, and vulnerability.

This book is about a man releasing his soul and it took mine away when I closed it.

January 25th 1882 was the day Virginia Woolf was born.
One of the most brilliant, beautiful, and tormented souls.

Virginia wrote through stream of consciousness, and she was truly a visionary. It’s so easy to get lost while reading her words, and such a privilege to be able to do so.
She questioned society and patriarchy. She reflected on the self, on identity, on the weight of the world.

I find it beautiful how she spoke so often about the sea, how she understood its rage and its poetry, and how choosing to end her life through water somehow closes a perfect cycle, in the saddest way.

Virginia Woolf is my favourite writer. I can’t explain how deeply I fall for her every time I find myself dancing through her thoughts.

She was born 144 years ago, and I still feel her close every day. 🤍

Welcome to my first post of 2026!

I've been sick for the past three days, and the weather where I live is really cold and rainy, not my favourite. Lately, I’ve been more in a movie binge watching mood than a reading mood, if I’m being completely honest with you. I’m currently reading Madonna in a Fur Coat and I’m loving it, but I haven’t really felt like picking up my book that often during this first month of the year.

I finished the first semester of uni with good grades (yay), and my break from school has been split between partying and enjoying time with my friends or being a couch potato with my beautiful cat (who won’t be living with me for the next few months, so I’m making every second count).

January is also what I like to call a white month. I like to attribute colours to words or things, and January, for me, is a white month.

Months like these ask for very particular reads. I like to be transported by what I read, and that involves getting fully immersed in the stories, so I thought it would be fun to give you a few book recs that I feel go hand in hand with the cold.

I hope I’ve given you some good recommendations to enjoy for the rest of the Winter months! Let me know how you feel about these books 💜

The year is almost over!
Instead of doing a 2025 wrap-up I decided to make a compilation of my favourite books from the year!

In general I think I can finally say that this year was my year even though it wasn't always easy or fun, but I did manage to turn my life around and do lots of different things! Not only in my private life but even the concerts I went to this year were some of the most special ones for me and when it comes to reading I can say it was super successful too!

I read so many wonderful books this year, I think it's safe to say that classic novels won the most read genre but essays brought me some of my favourite books of the year as I also love to read non-fiction. I do have my personal goals and lists I keep track of (mostly to keep track of my unhealthy obssession with book buying) but I don't really like to turn reading into numbers or competitions and I don't think the amount of books you read really reflect anything. I like to read at my pace, and according to what suits me at a certain period, I'm a mood reader after all.

One of the most beautiful things this year brought me was the courage to start this account and all the wonderful people I've met since. You truly brighten my life! Can't wait to keep reading your posts and nerding out over our shared love of books 💜

Happy holidays to those who celebrate, and otherwise, happy days! xo

And suddenly the year is almost at an end!
Is it just me or is this year's concept of time super weird? I feel like 2025 was so full but at the same time I'm kind of surprised its already december.. I don't know, maybe I just became too attached to it and am kind of sad to let it go... well, Pages was born in 2025 after all 💜

I decided to make a little compilation to match my January to June post and even though I read "eat the ones you love" in June I had to include it here because I haven't finished it when I made the other one, and it deserves my love over and over!

Also, I found out you can make these cute little graphics and I'm kind of obsessed w them! can you tell purple is my favourite colour? 😅

I'm planning on doing a compilation of the whole year closer to the end but there you go, my picks of this second half of the year, with some reading slumps in between. I'm sad over how little time I've been having for my books this past few months (how much we read is a personal question) but I've been so busy w other things that I haven't had the time or mindset for it and that does make me sad.
I didn't include least favourites on this one, I prefer to share the ones that brought me the most joy!

Anyway, thank you for being such a wonderful community ✨

Hi freeeens!! 💜

I decided to do this tag, I've been seeing it around and I find it cute, plus, I really miss my books and I can't wait for my christmas break so I can get all cozy with them!

I'm a summer child but if you can't face this cold you better well fight it how you can! (with a cup of instant coffee, a book and a cat).

These are my picks for the 7 deadly sins as books let me know if you have some of them in common with me or if you totally disagree w the ones on my wrath slide (its not that I hate them I just don't love them)...

Hope you are all okay and that december treats you well! I'm usually a Grinch but I've been too busy for that to kick in ahah
