At some point we had to decided to continue driving through Spain or go past Portugal to reach Galicia....so we decided to drive through Portugal to eat Pastel de natas and some Bacalao, and thank god we did!
@debelda obviously had to first visit the castle which brought us to this restaurant called @tabernadojavali , inside the castle where we met our server, a young man called Rui Afonso. It felt like i met a long lost brother from Goa. As soon as he found out i lived in Goa, everything changed! He offered us an apartment inside the castle, met us post shift and took us to watch the full moon on the castle wall, he knew some of the Goa crew, and it was just delightful.

That evening we ate Pica Pao, which was so moreish and delicious i almost cried....juicy tender pieces of meat 🐄 , dowsed in olive oil and sherry vinegar, pickled vegetables and toast...hit the spot! We stayed another day to get some much needed rest. It felt like a dream, waking up in the middle of a castle.
We drank Super Bock, the local beer and tried some grilled Bacalao, Lamb Chops and a Tomato Salad.
The morning after was dedicated to Pastel de natas and coffee. Both Fantastic.
I feel like I need to see more of Portugal so i will be back.
But thank you for the warmest welcome and the best vibes.

Somewhere on the road to Galicia we passed villages with almost no people, abundance of fruit, clean drinking water, abandoned squats, and beautiful landscapes.
Fresh prunes, pears, berries, chestnuts ( castania) and olives, no noise, clean air, clean water, afternoon naps, cider and the most amazing food!
This is luxury!
