Engagement...

I can't be the only one who struggles with engagement. I aim to post 4-5 times a week. I post a mixture of reviews, events, and challenges. I have over 4000 followers. And yet, some posts get next to no engagement.

Is it the algorithm? Are my posts just not worth the interaction?

For those that do interact (like, follow, comment, etc) I genuinely appreciate you and love our little chats ❤️

So, if you see this post PLEASE like or comment (or both). I would like to see how far my posts reach.

Big Little Truths
Liane Moriarty

Blurb: Parenting teens is not for the faint of heart but Madeline, Jane and Celeste have been through worse. It's been a decade since the school trivia night that changed their lives forever and now they're living blissfully ordinary suburban lives.

But when an anonymous grisly package arrives at the local high school, and a man in a green Volvo is seen lurking around the kids, everyone in their beautiful beachside community is uneasy.

Is this history repeating itself or something new and more shocking?

Can you ever truly outrun the mistakes of your past?

What big little truths are about to be revealed?

My Opinion: While it was nice to revisit these characters, and the book was enjoyable enough, I just dont understand why. It is not like there were loose ends to tie up, or everyone had been waiting for a sequel. I find Moriarty's work hit and miss. Some books (both old and new) are fantastic, and others just miss the mark. Big Little Truths came across as the book being written before the tv series continued.

❓️What are you reading this week? I literally finished all of my current reads over the weekend so have nothing on the go just yet.

Love Your Bookshop Day 2026

Here is a bit of a photo dump of mine and Teddy's saturday morning. We visited @macleansbooks to purchase some goodies. I had planned to buy either Hollywood Ending OR The Correspondent so ultimately bought both 🤷‍♀️ Teddy was getting Roald Dahl's Matilda, but ended up with Protector of Beyond which we had not heard of but will enjoy. Slide along to see his own bookish photo shoot ❤️ We then got to choose a freebie (I decided that I didn't need any further books) which is how Teddy also received The Land of Lost Things which sounds hilarious.

❓️ What is your Sunday looking like?

We are heading down to Sydney for the day to see my family. Wish me luck 🤣

Happy Love Your Bookshop Day 2026

Here is a collection of bookshops that I visited whilst in Tasmania. The coolest being The Book Cellar in Campbell Town, the friendliest was Not Just Books at Burnie, and The Hobart Bookshop was where I found the most diverse selection of new books.

There were a few others I saw that I didnt take photos of but I always make the effort to see as many bookshops as I can.

❓️Be honest, where was the last place you purchased a book from? Either in person or online.

Book Mail

After a very long wait, and then some because I was away, my Ship Tease book box arrived. This was well worth the wait and just look at those sprayed edges. Also, you can't see it in the photos but the book is shimmery/glittery stunning.

Thank you @brooklyndeanwrites I can't wait to devour Ship Tease.

❓️ What was your last book mail?

Billie King
@shannon.kelly.white

Blurb:
1918: Australia's last bushranger, Dulcie James, holds up Anna King's falling-down farmhouse. There's a scrawny unloved infant on the floor, Anna seems more furious than frightened, and it's the bushranger who's left shaken. And the next day, Anna disappears.

Twelve years later, Anna's daughter, Billie King, is a girl ready to explode. With a missing mother, the rent in arrears and her alcoholic father's gambling debts to cover, she has no time for school. But when child services threaten to remove Billie from her father, she must decide between continuing her search for her missing mother and keeping what's left of her family together. If she fails to hold onto her father, she'll be taken away and placed in a children's home, but if she doesn't find her missing mother, who will?

My Opinion:
I love and adore Billie ❤️
This book was everything I didnt know I needed. Having gone in somewhat blind, I didnt know what to expect but I enjoyed this so much. I also really enjoyed the Australian colloquialisms as they reminded me of my grandfather; who used ALOT of these.

I look forward to what Shannon Kelly White does next.

❓️What was your last great read?

September Wrap Up

I'm back from Tassie and what a busy holiday it was. It's going to take me a few days (at least) to recover from the last 12 or so days. However, I thought it was time to post my September reads, and check in with every one. Only 6 books read but it was a very busy month. My favourite read was Billie King ❤️ and I was surprised with how much I enjoyed After You'd Gone.

It's into the second week of NSW School Holidays and we have also just had a long weekend. Unfortunately, the Knights didn't win the NRL GF but I have never loved a team more. I think I have been converted.

Taking a break.

We are headed on a family holiday and with school holidays starting in NSW, I thought it was the perfect time to take a little break from social media.

For me, that means that I will still be lurking, commenting, and liking but will not be posting bookish content unless I feel like it and have time. You may get some holiday snaps, you may not 🤷‍♀️

❓️Where is your favourite holiday destination?

Author Spotlight ✨️
Sally Hepworth

We have reached the final author spotlight showcasing some of Australia's amazing talent. These are the authors I will be voting for in @abcradionational Top 100 Australian Books.

Sally Hepworth is one of my favourite authors and has written some great books, but the best by far is Mad Mabel. I have not met a reader who didn't love Mabel ❤️. Hepworth writes about complex family dynamics and will have you on the edge of your seat until the end regardless of which book you are reading.

Voting closes on October 1st.

❓️What is your favourite Sally Hepworth book? Have you voted yet?
