Updated for 2026! Here’s every book I’ve published under my name. What genre/subgenre would you like to see me write next? It’s been three years since I last asked and I loved reading everyone’s answers, so sound off in the comments!
.
For the record, I’m currently working on a medieval folk horror, a 50s sci-fi, a ghost story… and an epic fantasy series.
.
(Some of the audiobooks listed not available until later this year)

ARC REVIEW: Maggot Road by David Sodergren

If anyone was going to get me out of my reading slump it was going to be David Sodergren! My reviewing skills are definitely rusty as it's been a while but I did my best! Another exceptional addition to his collection of books, I highly recommend checking out "Maggot Road" in december♥️

The Suffering is an absolute tour de force in historic, religious horror. If ever a title summed up a book perfectly, this is it.

The isolated location set in the very depths of winter makes this story feel bleak from the outset, every fight for survival that bit more heightened. And to make that isolated setting a convent? Perfection.
Part plague, part zombie apocalypse, part supernatural horror, The Suffering never feels stale or predictable, and I can honestly say that this will firmly sit as one of my top reads for 2026. I never knew where the story would go, and honestly? I didn’t care: I just knew it would be an incredible journey.

When I say The Suffering is bleak, I truly mean it: winter at the top of an impassable mountain aside, the main characters are given such wholesome depth, such warmth, that it really emphasises the tension, gore, and bitterness of the plot. Hope is dangled in front of the reader, and whipped away just as quickly: quite literally, sometimes! The world-building is incredibly vivid, the historic language is there but doesn’t feel forced. The talent shown here is honestly mind-blowing (again, sometimes literally).

TLDR: The Suffering is an incredible book that I will recommend to everyone until the end of my days. Sodergren is absolutely an auto-buy author for me, the depth of his talent is phenomenal.

One thing you should know about me is I don’t do anything halfway. Another thing many of you probably already know is the horror genre is my first love. After hearing multiple raves from Booktubers including the awesome @thepastelbookshelf about the works of @paperbacksandpugs, I couldn’t try just one; I bought eleven of the author’s stunning matching hardcovers. Can’t wait to dive into the grisly delights David Sodergren has concocted. by @paperbacksandpugs

Highlight Empfehlung! Ich liebe diese Geschichte 🥰

The Haar von @paperbacksandpugs

Also: Lest dieses Buch!

Summer Of The Monsters @paperbacksandpugs

I’m making my way through Sodergren’s collection slowly but surely and loving every minute of it! I’ve had Summer Of Monsters on my shelf for so long it had to be the perfect summerween read for me & of course it was just that! I loved it so much 🥹

When Lucy & her dad move to an isolated farm house in Scotland she isn’t best pleased. At sixteen she wasn’t ready to move & leave everything behind, but her dad’s failing writing career meant they had no option.

Moving into this fully furnished farmhouse spikes concern in Lucy, it’s like the previous tenants just upped and vanished leaving everything they own behind? And why is there so many scarecrows surrounding the property?

With not much else to do Lucy goes exploring, she hears of the myths of the monsters in the woods…but monsters aren’t real!

Are they?

I LOVED this SO much! Tell me why I felt sad for the monster 😢 & for Lucy! I didn’t expect emotions to come out & play!

It was such a good read, the betrayal hit me like it was being done to me 🤣 I didn’t expect certain parts at all! I thought it would be a lovely cosy monster read with a slash of gore & horror but no! It hit me right in the feels & had me invested praying for a happy ending! 🥹

I genuinely loved it! Sodergren never lets me down, it was the perfect read to build up for those Halloween vibes that are right around the corner 🫶🏻🤎

If it’s written by David Sodergren, expect it to be brutal!

Part noir mystery, part violent slasher; Dead Girl Blues was a fun time - lots of gore, blood, and death. No character is safe. The ending? Insane!

If you’ve read anything by Sodergren, then you know his books are not for the faint of heart and his books are definitely where I draw the line in gore because honestly, I almost be tapping out with his books - the gore/violence is intense! But, I just can’t do it because I need to see how the story ends - underneath the chaos is a story you want to see through to the end.

Dead Girl Blues was our July pick for the Edgar Allan Hoes Book Club. Can’t wait to see what book we’re reading next month!
