We are writing to you with heavy hearts and deep care for haej and their dad who are navigating deeply challenging coming months of cancer treatment, recovery, and caregiving. Now, as the sole caregiver of their dad, haej is getting ready to face the next few months with adaptability, courage to ask for support, and recommitment to their love and care for their dad. They are preparing to move out of their current apartment unit to stay with their dad once they both return from Corea, and take over parts of his work. With all these abrupt changes affecting their wellbeing being disabled and formerly unhoused on top of being on medical leave, leaving them with no stable income, haej has been struggling to take care of themself. Any amount to this mutual aid effort will directly allow them to take care of themself so they can care for their dad fully. Haej’s dad is a lover of nature and authentic connections. He loves fishing, camping, and exploring places that remind him of his hometown of Samcheok. He is known by those who know him as a generous neighbor and friend who goes out of his way to make sure people are taken care of. Let’s come together to make sure both haej and his dad are able to continue pursuing life’s simple pleasures and have a fortified chance at beating the battle against cancer. Thank you so, so much.
