β€œI need me.” After nearly nine years at the helm, Nikki Metcalfe is stepping away β€” and Paralloy RT will close at the end of 2026. For years, the North East women’s team, formerly Team Boompods, has helped riders progress through Britain’s domestic scene. But behind the results was a very different reality: a team largely held together by one woman, volunteers, personal contacts and an increasingly stretched budget. Metcalfe talks candidly about running a national-level team on around Β£14,000, the disappearance of the Tour Series, losing riders to UCI teams, the personal cost of keeping everything going β€” and why she knew it was finally time to stop. β€œI loved it. I just need to get out before I start not enjoying it so much.” πŸ”— Read the full interview on The British Continental. πŸ“Έ @swpix_cycling and @philmetcalfephotography @rapha_uk presents The British Continental, supported by @4endurance.co.uk and @hunt.road. Racing round up 🏁 The North Yorkshire Grand Prix closes this year's National Road Series and with that the series standings. During the race last weekend Amy had a mechanical making her unable to finish, however putting that behind her and pushing on for a strong 7th place finish this weekend secured her a fantastic 4th place in the overall standings πŸ‘ Unfortunately during the race Millie had a crash which lead to her being admitted to hospital. We are glad to report she was discharged late Sunday night and is now at home recuperating. Our thanks go to all the people that were involved in assisting Millie during the incident and we all wish her a speedy recovery β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή North Yorkshire Grand Prix πŸ“ AMPLEFORTH πŸš΄β€β™€οΈ Amy Henchoz πŸ’₯7th πŸš΄β€β™€οΈ Jihanna Bonilla-Allard πŸ’₯23rd πŸš΄β€β™€οΈ Lili Keau πŸ’₯26th β€’ πŸ“Έ Phil Metcalfe Photography Paralloy Group Limited Phil Metcalfe Photography Velotec Taylor's MOT Velo29 www.paralloy.co.uk #paralloy #philmetcalfephotography #velotec #taylorsmot #velo29 racing cycling womeninsport britishcycling elitedevelopmentteam by @paralloyrt
