🌟 Happy International Women’s Day! 🌟

Today we honor the vision, passion, and leadership of women everywhere — especially those who are shaping the world around us with creativity and heart.

At Park City Culinary Institute, we’re proud to be led by an incredible woman: Laurie Moldawer, director and owner of our school. Laurie’s dedication to culinary excellence and education has helped our institute rise to national recognition — including being named one of the top culinary schools in the United States by Passport Magazine, alongside longstanding institutions like the Culinary Institute of America and Johnson & Wales.

Laurie’s leadership isn’t just about accolades — it’s about community, empowerment, and possibility. She believes in creating memorable experiences, teaching real technique, and building confidence in every student who walks through our doors.

To all the women who cook, teach, innovate, and inspire — thank you.
Your creativity strengthens our kitchens, our classrooms, and our communities.

Here’s to women who lead with courage, passion, and flavor. 🍽️💫

Today we celebrate National Wildlife Day — and the essential role wildlife plays in every meal we prepare.

Bees and butterflies pollinate the fruits and vegetables we rely on. Birds help manage pests naturally. Earthworms enrich the soil that grows our food. Even predators play a vital role in keeping ecosystems balanced.

Healthy wildlife supports healthy farms.
Healthy farms support thriving kitchens.

At Park City Culinary Institute, we believe great chefs don’t just master technique — they understand where ingredients come from and how to protect the systems that sustain them. Sustainability isn’t a trend in the culinary world — it’s a responsibility.

🌎🌱 The future of food depends on the balance of nature — and the next generation of chefs who respect it.

Did you know America’s first president had a serious sweet tooth?

One of George Washington’s favorite treats was something surprisingly simple… hoecakes! 🥞

These colonial-era cornmeal pancakes were cooked over an open flame and served with butter or honey. Not overly sweet, but warm, comforting, and packed with early American history.

Mount Vernon, Washington, also enjoyed:
🍎 Fruit pies
🍮 Bread pudding
🍰 Spice cakes
🍓 Trifles

Proof that even in the 1700s, dessert was essential.

A hoecake is a simple cornmeal pancake that dates back to early American colonial cooking.

It’s made with:
-Cornmeal
-Water or milk
-Salt
-Sometimes a little fat (like butter or bacon drippings)
-The batter is poured onto a hot surface and cooked until crisp on the outside and tender inside.

Is It the Same as Cornbread?
Not quite.
Cornbread → baked in a pan
Hoecake → cooked flat like a pancake.

Would you try a colonial hoecake? Or are you sticking with modern sweets? 👀

🧪🍞 International Day of Women & Girls

Honoring Ruth Wakefield

Often described as the scientific successor to Marie-Antoine Carême, Ruth Wakefield wasn’t just a baker — she was a methodical experimenter.

When she invented the chocolate chip cookie, it wasn’t an accident. It was the result of deliberate testing and observation: how chocolate behaves under heat, how fat and sugar ratios affect spread, texture, and structure, and how small adjustments change the final outcome.

Why she matters:
Ruth Wakefield demonstrated that baking is chemistry. Her work showed how ingredient interactions drive flavor, texture, and consistency — fundamentals of baking science still taught in kitchens and culinary classrooms today.

Here’s to the women and girls who experiment, test, refine, and quietly change the world — one recipe at a time. 🍪✨ #WomenInScience #BakingScience #ChocolateChipCookie #WomenInBaking #CulinaryHistory #FoodInnovation #BakingWithLove #WomenEmpowerment #CulinaryArts #RecipeExperiment #InternationalDayOfWomenAndGirls by @parkcityculinary

Today we celebrate the women who changed the way we cook, learn, and gather around food.

Julia Child didn’t just teach recipes—she gave people confidence in the kitchen. At a time when professional cooking spaces were dominated by men, she brought French cuisine into American homes with warmth, humor, and zero intimidation.

Her legacy lives on every time someone says, “You don’t have to be perfect—just cook.”

🌍✨ International Day of Women & Girls
Today, we are honoring Julia Child.
Here’s to women and girls everywhere who are learning, leading, creating, and redefining the culinary world—one dish at a time. 🍽️✨
