46 years ago today we said I Do, and still do, thank you Lord!

It started even 7 years before that, an introduction by her neighbor, that went viral between us.

One of my fondest, earliest memories was Stacy recounting her father, Chester, chasing her around their house waving the just received phone bill!

Y’all youngsters wouldn’t know, but it was a long distance phone call from Bay to Jonesboro back then, meaning that you were charged by the minute…

Stacy and I apparently talked a lot of minutes - Bay to Jonesboro, and Jonesboro to Bay!

Now that’s a fond memory not cause our beloved Chester was upset, what a great man he was, but because it brings back memories of never running out of things to talk about, even from the beginnings…

It’s still pretty much that way, thank you Lord!

No it ain’t always easy, if you know me you know why, but it’s always worth it!

My PhD advisor, Dr Wei-Wen Yu, passed away in June just a month shy of being 103 years old.

I was honored to attend his funeral services back at my Alma mater, now known as the Missouri Science and Technology University.

To say Dr Yu was just a “great man” seems inadequate and almost disrespectful.

From my first introduction to our last exchange my interactions were just perfect. From day one he treated me with respect, kindness, and genuine concern for my well being. I had done nothing to earn it. It was a starting gift that never diminished.

I would like to think it was because I was “special” to Yu, he was certainly special to me, but he treated everyone with the same respect, kindness and genuine concern.

A fellow professor once shared with me that if you’re waiting for Dr Yu to go through the door in front of you, you’ll be there all day! That’s just a small example of his humility.

Dr Yu had plenty to be proud of - he was the undisputed world leader in the field of cold formed steel design and author of multiple editions of his text book used for generations, like me, to learn this field.

I am blessed and grateful, beyond words, to call Dr Yu my mentor and my dear friend.

Mom’s sister, my Aunt Betty Sue, passed away peacefully last night. She was 90 years old!

She always made me feel loved and special, and I always looked forward to our visits!

So many good memories!

May you rest in eternal peace with our Lord and Savior! by @parkemcalls
