✨ ENTRYWAY MUDROOM REVEAL ✨

This space is officially done and I couldn’t be happier with how this custom build turned out! 🤩 I’m obsessed with the warm white oak contrasting with the rich dark blue/charcoal paint. It’s just too good!

Every element of this entryway build is not just beautiful, but SO functional. From the deep white oak bench for sitting and putting shoes on, to the deep and shallow drawers for ALL the shoe storage, to the tall coat cabinet, to the additional storage cabinet above, to the floating shelves that can have extra baskets on, to the hooks for hanging bags, purses, and hats… I’d say it’s got it all 🙌🏻

This is ✨40✨

I am so grateful to have spent the past weekend with my favorite people in one of my fav places to celebrate my birthday 🥳 We had the absolute BEST time and it’s a weekend I’ll never forget! 💖 I keep hearing this is the best decade yet and I’m here for it!

Walnut miter-edged floating shelves - Part 3! 🤎

I always love putting the finish on anything walnut because that graining and color always has me drooling 🤤 It’s just so stunning! I used my favorite go-to finish @rubiomonocoatusa in the color “Walnut.” It makes the so warm and chocolately 🍫 doesn’t it?

These will get installed in the next coming weeks (not by me), so I’ll be sure to share what these shelves look like in their home!

Walnut miter-edged floating shelves tutorial - Part 2!

This is how I always assemble and glue up these shelves. I always glue a couple scrap pieces of plywood inside that is the same measurement of the inside of the shelf. This ensures that the shelf stays solid and strong.

If you watched part 1, you can see how all the steps of that resulted in super tight and clean mitered corners here.

I’ll be putting on the finish in part 3! This is always my favorite part of working with walnut because the finish really makes the walnut shine! 🤎 by @parkplaceabode

Walnut miter-edged floating shelves tutorial - Part 1!

I made a batch of 8 deep floating shelves. This is always the sequence of steps I do to keep the measurements easy and to get the crispiest mitered edges.

Top tips to cut the crispy miters:
1. Set the blade tilt to 44.9 degrees. It makes a tighter, clean miter joint.
2. Using a featherboard is a huge help to keep the piece tight against the fence so the blade can cut the miter super consistently.
3. It’s also important to provide consistent downward pressure too with your push block to prevent any slight lifting.

Tutorial: How to make a little step stool!

I made this little step stool as a part of the mud kitchen I finished. But this step stool can be used inside your home too for the little ones or for just that extra little height you need reaching around the house. It’s a pretty simple build and you only need five 1.5” thick pieces to make it.

Here’s some more details from the custom mud kitchen build! 🤎

Overall dimensions: 54”L x 24”D x 40” H (23”H countertop)
Material: Cedar (mostly 2x4s and 2x8s; 1/2”x8 for the backsplash pieces)
Stain: Armstrong Clark - transparent exterior stain in Natural tone

I also made a little step stool, so will show you how I made that in my next video! 🙂

✨ MUD KITCHEN REVEAL ✨

Didn’t it turn out just the cutest? 😍 When designing this, we pieced together all the different elements of multiple mud kitchen inspo builds that we wanted and it became THIS ✨

I’m SO happy with how this turned out and more importantly, the little girl gets to have endless amounts of fun for years to come playing with this beautiful mud kitchen. Her mom already let me know that it’s played with every day 🥰

MUD KITCHEN - Part 3!

I put a transparent natural tone oil-based stain on every surface to protect it from the elements since this is living outside and I let that cure for a few days. It really made the natural warmth of the cedar come out! I also made a simple little door under the stove area and made a wooden handle that was easy to grasp. For the cute little window, I used a piece of plexiglass from the framing section of Michaels so they can just easily replace it if they ever have to.

I added all the other little details like the stove burners, knobs, and hooks to wrap it all up! I already delivered it to its new home so stay tuned for the full FINAL REVEAL!!! (Spoiler… it’s SO cute!!!) 😊
