Here’s one for those who said “Why would someone want to work in science communication and engagement?”

Incredibly honoured to have received the King Charles III Coronation Medal for STEM Engagement.

Huge thanks to @RCIScience for nominating me for this award.

When I arrived in Canada 18.5 years ago, I came with a dream of studying astronomy, but during my PhD, I also fell in love with STEM education and outreach.

What began as volunteering for a space-themed radio show evolved into leading classroom and educator workshops, coordinating observatory programming, and participating in media interviews!

Throughout this journey, I was often my career path….I’m glad I didn’t listen to them and pursued every opportunity my heart desired.

Congratulations to all the recipients— I’m fortunate to call many of you friends and be part of the such amazing community!

Thank you to my support system - family and friends - who have made it possible for me to continue to pursue my dreams.

Sometimes you do not take a linear path in your career… and that is OKAY 🤩

I love what I get to do… it may not be a hip job but at the end of the day I know the little role I may play in someone discovering their passion 🥹

Jupiter 🤩 the planet that I have been obsessed with painting 🫣 the first photo was my first ever attempt and I was blown away by how my vision came to life! Since then I have painted many Jupiters… even did one in Infrared colors (second image) 😜

Jupiter is today’s topic for @spacetober_challenge 🥹 by @parshatipatel

Two gujju space scientists rocking at Garba…. Who said science and arts cannot mix!!!! Revisiting Garba night from September where @ashkathaker and I attended @adityagadhviofficial Garba right here in London, Ontario!

Looking forward to @hcc_london Garba this Saturday!!! (@charmibhatt_ we missed you!) by @parshatipatel

Today’s @spacetober_challenge theme is Supernova 💥

Supernovas are my favourite kinds of objects (after planets 😉) to create using fluid art techniques! The technique suits well to showcase the movement and variety within a supernova 🥹

I just need to remember to take photos of all my paintings 😆 especially the ones I give away or sell 🫣

Hope you like them as much as I do 🤩 by @parshatipatel

Part of a space station or what could have been?!

This painting was inspired by Canada’s previously planned Canadarm3 (was being built by @mda_space) for a space station for the Moon. While the project was cut short, this painting now hangs on the walls of a space nerd who worked at CSA and hopefully continues to inspire them to built space arms 🦾 🥹

Inspired by amazing pictures from Artemis II mission and @canadianspaceagency astronaut (and fellow Londoner) @astrojeremy’s amazing journey to the Moon and back!

It was a pure Moon Joy for me to recreate what Earth may have looked to the Artemis crew on their way to the Moon 🫣 if Jeremy, @astro_christina, @astrovicglover or @astro_reid can confirm that would be amazing 🥲

By far my favourite painting that I have ever made!!! Using fluid art techniques, I love that it captures how alive Earth is when see from space!

Sharing as part of the @spacetober_challenge!

This piece (along with many others) will go on sale soon 🥹 I am still debating if I should sale this one 😜 TBD! by @parshatipatel

Wishing @astro_kutryk and Crew-13, Godspeed, as they launch to space today! Six months on @iss where Josh will be conducting tons of experiments and hundreds of people supporting on the ground - missions take more one person and I am grateful to be alive in the year where we have not one but two @canadianspaceagency astronauts would have gone to space 🚀

I had an opportunity to very briefly meet and work with Josh when I was deployed to the CSA! He launched the project that I led and I got to co-present with him (I am normally not nervous about presenting but this was nerve wrecking 🥲).

Looking forward to all the amazing science Josh gets to do on ISS and those amazing views of Mother Earth from his perspective on ISS 🌎

(And yes, I am way shorter than him 🌝 if I had not cropped my colleagues in this photo, you would see I look VERY short 😅 they are all just really tall people). by @parshatipatel

Finally starting to edit Starfest photos 😅 I am sure my Rokinon 14mm is broken because my stars aren’t pinpoints like my last one or my 135mm But I am making do with what I have 🫣 maybe I need @canoncanada 16mm 😬 thoughts?!

For now, enjoy this view of the Milkyway… I would love to capture deep sky objects but my first love is always our galaxy 🫡

✨SUMMER OF SEDS SILENT AUCTION ITEM ✨

Thank you @StellarDreamsArt for this gorgeous piece named Interstellar Nomad! Born among the stars, bound to none! This painting was inspired by rogue planets – planetary-mass objects that drift through space without being gravitationally bound to a star. Imagine familiar worlds roaming the vast interstellar neighbourhoods, far from the stars and planetary systems they may have once called home. The fluid art technique provides a perfect medium for evoking the dynamic movements of the surrounding nebula while highlighting the solitary nature of the interstellar wanderer.

My first ever attempt at #astrophotography using my phone! Some of these I've touched up a little for a cleaner look using @lightroom! 🔭💙

Featuring parts of the galaxy (before the clouds rolled in), a fuzzy Andromeda, rising Pleiades, and the Cassiopeia & Ursa Major constellations! 🌌🔭✨

We also had a nice-ish view of Saturn, but my phone didn't do it great justice. 🪐

@parshatipatel and I went on a last minute sky watching quest last night and suffice it to say, we had an absolute blast!🤩 Y'all gotta look out for her camera pictures, because I had a sneak peek earlier and they're phenomenal!! 💯🔥
