For the piece Sieve Algebra Study of unknown size, performed at the Xenakis Network Performance Marathon 2022 in Athens, I developed a live coding environment with Prof. Julian Rohrhuber in which we used Xenakis notion of sieves to generate rhythm, melodies, spectrum and its modulation from a sieve for each loudspeaker.
The constraint of limiting ourselves to the concept of a sieve was really fruitful as it allowed us to apply the same method in different entanglements, applying the sieve on itself at different rates of time.
Having this performed in a distributed manner across the globe seems to fit the radical thinking of Iannis Xenakis Xenakis. It was also great to have been joined by my fellow students @juleblumt and Sebastian for the performance, it sure was a great night!

For further information about sieves I wrote a discussion about it in the Xenakis course I organized in 2021/2022.

On 2022-10-25 I organized a concert in honor of composer and architect Ιάννης Ξενάκης (Iannis Xenakis) 100th birthday to which @j.iawenw.ang , @mewithoutnara ,@vintos and others contributed works. As a finale the abundant Persepolis was played on 8 speakers.

I first got in contact with Xenakis when I wrote my Bachelor thesis in mathematics about the “Stochastic in music” and was fascinated by his adaption of mathematical concepts into sound. Fast forward to 2022, being a Xenakis celebration year, I founded a research group at RSH Düsseldorf in which we worked through Xenakis book “Formalized music”, as well as listening and discussing his electro-acoustic pieces. At the end of the research it was important for me to celebrate Xenakis music with a concert and I was able to obtain a very fitting spot: the underground parking lot of the @musikundmedien which to me fits more the atmosphere and spirit of Xenakis than a traditional concert hall as it invites much more to walk around and explore the sonorities of the room which is one of the big gifts to music by Xenakis.

For the concert I reconstructed Xenakis composition Achorripsis which uses the stochastic Poisson distribution to distribute musical events for a group of instruments. The 7 instrument groups of the orchestra were replaced by 2 modular systems. The SuperCollider source code is available on my GitHub page.

I also diffused the electro acoustic pieces Persepolis with Diamorphoses and the lesser known Voyage absolu des Unari vers Andromède by Iannis Xenakis.

On 2022-08-07 I was invited to test the acoustic of 3 different churches in Cologne via a quad loudspeaker setup. I was surprised how much the acoustics differ, be it the reverberation time and its spectral characteristics, the resonance frequencies or the carriage of sound intensity. Also the altitude of churches constructs a spatiality in a vertical manner which is often neglected.
In every of these churches I played the same 3 compositions on which one was coded on-spot and was inspired by the ear-ringing sine tones of Maryanne Amacher.

The 3 different churches were St. Alban, Minoritenkirche and St. Aposteln and @c.c._herman recorded the performances with the amibsonics microphone Sennheiser Ambeo VR which allows to capture the spatiality sounds.

My electroacoustic composition “Silicon Machine Music” will be played at the Sound Cinema Festival in Düsseldorf. For this piece I programmed and used a sequencing algorithm which mimics an hour glass - the composer is able to open and release a valve which influences the sound density, therefore making the sequencing not a time-based operation but more an information theoretical operation - this idea came to me after I explored some writings by cybernetic music composer Roland Kayn.

It is my first composition in which I used the ambisonics technology for a 7.1 spatialization and also used new synthesizing techniques which I learned at my stay at the IEM in Graz.
The title is a nod to the infamous Metal Machine Music album by Lou Reed.

On 2022-08-26 I was invited by the 24h to take festival to play a concert at the Filmwerkstatt Düsseldorf. I played 4 different audiovisual compositions that were developed within the last year and were played back on a 4 channel system.

The seminar Akustische Kunst organized a concert at the Simultanhalle in Köln on 2021-06-26. I distributed 4 Raspberry Pis attached with sensors, powerbank and a bluetooth speakers and created a live radio for the area in which the sensory data controlled the sound installation, therefore connecting the gap between nature and technology via sensors and listener and technology via soundwaves.
