The last week of PIYA at SCDC was filled with prepping for the big day. Shoutout to all of the parents and volunteers that helped get the kids ready for showtime✨

Congratulations to our family at the Samoan Community Development Center on a beautiful 30th anniversary celebration and performance, and on 30 years of faithfully pouring into our community. 💐💐💐 @scdc_sf

Thank you for trusting Pasifika In Focus with the opportunity to spend this summer documenting the heart work that happens every day through PIYA and to share a glimpse of that story on the jumbotron at Chase Center.

A special thank you to Fa’atonu Dr. Patsy Tito for your vision to dream BIG for our community. I still remember when you first invited PIF to be part of PIYA this summer and said, “Could you imagine the pictures and footage the kids take on the big jumbotron at Chase Center?” At the time, I couldn’t even picture it. But from your lips to God’s ears, Fa’atonu. Yesterday, we watched that vision become reality as the work of our young creatives lit up the screen at Chase Center. What a full circle moment.

And finally, I want to celebrate the young people behind the photos you seen during the slideshow and the video that played during intermission. 🫶🏽 Every photo, every clip, every moment captured was created by Pasifika youth who committed themselves to learning, growing, and telling the story of their community. We are beyond proud of the work they created this summer, and this is only the beginning.
