Tomorrow, we open❤️

All the preparations, the sleepless nights, the ups and downs, the intensity, the planning, the reaching out to authors, the endless conversations. And now, the adrenaline is at an all-time high. We’re ready.

We’re opening the night with something AALFIE has always flirted with: a longing for opacity and empathy, a curiosity about what happens in the space between languages, and the possibility of crossing over, of getting lost and finding each other along the way. A desire to be moved by what we don’t yet understand, and to let another language, another rhythm, another world touch something in us.

This is our programme.

FOR SUDAN. For all lovers of art, multilingualism, songs, music, and conversation. For everyone willing to listen, to dare to travel beyond the borders of the self.

✨ 🎫Tickets available via the link in bio.

Opening night in partnership with @passaporta and @labellone, with the support of @opensocietyfoundations and the Commune of Ixelles.

See you tomorrow✨ by @passaporta

On Monday, we were honored to welcome Jan Carson as our writer-in-residence for the month of October. During her residency at Passa Porta, she will be working on her next novel, provisionally titled 'Do You Remember When We Used to Sing?', which explores the theme of generational trauma in Northern Ireland. We also invited her to give a masterclass on ‘How to create memorable characters’ at Passa Porta on 12 October (fully booked). 💛

We’re looking forward to reading what she creates!

Belgian artist Benoît van Innis reached a wide audience with his countless cartoons, but he also poured his artistic soul into his creative interventions in many national and international architecture projects. Now there is 'Benoît. Artist in architecture', a book that will appear in English, French and Dutch, showcasing a number of these powerful collaborations. 🎨📖

Annelies Beck will be in conversation with Scottish writer Ali Smith, who will also read the story she wrote specially for this book, inspired by Benoît’s work at Maalbeek metro station. Authors An Fonteyne, Elke Schoonen and art historian Jan Florizoone will present the book to us.
