I’ve been listening to @tvcop_ia’s “State Riff of Iowa” way too much while editing a story on @coolest_guy_69. Figured its time I learned to play it. Here’s my sloppy first pass over lunch.
Now back to the edit. taken in Johnston, Iowa by @patbobomb

First night of teaching intro to filmmaking for Emmalyn's girl scout troop. Had to stunt on them and represent my history as a Boy Scout. Once a scout, always a scout. taken in Johnston, Iowa by @patbobomb

When you’re having fun finding bed music for your edit and something totally outside of what you need comes up but you kind of love it. Now back to work. #EditingIsFun taken in Johnston, Iowa by @patbobomb

Of course, Tiny Explosions is participating in the Elm Street Project. While we are the host team, we too will randomly be assigned a scene just like every other team. The main difference being we aren't allowed a scene with Freddy in it and a team can swap scenes with us if they really want too.

We're excited to get weird and we're looking forward to see if anyone can out weird us.

Join the Bootleg Film Collective today and help us remake movies wrong! It's not a competition, it's a collective!

Behold! “Jelly Jar Man,” our award winning @48hfp_kansascity revenge-comedy, is now on YouTube! This film was a wild, messy, and fun adventure. Really proud of what we created. It’s pretty cool to make a ridiculous short film and have it win the audience award in a different city. I guess sloppy, silliness is universal. Want to check it out? The link is in the bio. Thank you to Alexander and the KC48 team, you guys put on a top shelf event.

We may have a problem. Three weeks after DSM 48, #TinyExplosions took the show on the road and produced a new short film for the @48hfp_kansascity... "Jelly Jar Man." Friday night the Hogans and I drove to KC, checked-in 3 Des Moines teams, pulled Comedy or Revenge (both first time genre pulls for us) film for TE, and wrote our short on the drive home.

In the days leading up to KC, @Hoganomix kept saying he wanted to make something completely gonzo, I said I wanted to make an absurd fever dream. Jelly Jar Man is definitely square in the center of that cross section. It features our smallest cast in years but some of the biggest gags we've ever captured. The edit was a sprint as the production required an avalanche of sound effects, a few editing tricks, and plenty o' audio cleanup due to deafening cicadas.

Thanks must be made to Craig and Hillary who embraced leading a [spoiler redacted] film. Additionally, Erin Hogan went above and beyond as our script supervisor. So much so it felt only right to credit her as assistant director. As always thank you to all Exploders who helped make this weekend a ton of messy fun.

If you find yourself in Kansas City on Monday, August 24 check out the screening & awards at Atlas 9. Including Tiny Explosions, three teams from Des Moines joined seven KC teams to make the event happen. Here's hoping for an awesome screening.

For 15 consecutive @48hourfilmproject s (26 when you add special 48s), #TinyExplosions has crossed the finish line on time. Our team is on a never ending journey into the golden, bottomless mine of absurdity. This time out we uncovered the inspirational dark comedy, Wag the Cat. There is a lot I want to say about the film but with our art I hate giving away even the smallest details.

I will say our team took another joke and refused to let it die. One of my favorite things about Tiny Explosions is the laughs and just straight friendship that comes with the team. It's not just a weekend to make a film, but an excuse to hang with friends for practically an entire weekend. Plus we get new people to join our silly circus every time out!

There's always a come down when I have to pack up my gear and step away from the short filmmaking marathon. But thankfully, the screenings are right around the corner. Join me and all the Exploders @FleurCinema on Aug 13 for screening Group C.

Special thanks to Dave Boberg for allowing us to film at his house again and mostly dodge the horrific heat.
