Final round of captures (+ a bonus) from @ninarussellsinger #unplugged #openmic at @thechorltontap

1) I Want to Break Free with kazoo instead of electric guitar solo 😂

2) Hotel California with some forgotten chords and crowd support!

3) Can't Help Falling in Love... defo put the capo in the wrong place but was a last-minute, unrehearsed offering and the crowd carried it anyways!!

4) BONUS FOOTAGE! From an amazing house party jam with a "Breaking Free" theme, where I did the song whilst in fancy dress 'breaking free' of gender norms with a moustache and... other embellishments 😅

Very much enjoying music being so present for me again (had an MH blip in the Summer and the correlation between feeling sad and not singing is stark). Long live friendly brain beans! 🙏✨️🙌

#Fever captured by my delightful friend Will at @ninarussellsinger unplugged #openmic @thechorltontap last week.

More snippets to come from the other tunes but this one is longer offering coz I really enjoy hearing Will's lil' accompaniments with 'thigh drum' and 'mmmms' 😂

Highly recommend signing up to this night that's hopefully running every couple weeks on a Wednesday (next one 21st Oct). Nina hosts with such charisma and friendliness. The crowd want you to succeed too - all joy and cheerleading 🥳🥰 by @patchwoodmusic

🎶 Take Your Time is gonna be on the radio!! 🤯 🎶

My song will be played on Ed Burne’s @allfmradio show Sunday 18th Oct, from 6pm 📻

It's been a journey to get here! Started late 2024 at the @rigby_music_learn open mic at the @talleyrandmcr . Ed heard the song and asked if there was a recording. There wasn’t. So we made one! The plan was “a couple of months”... ended up taking a lot longer than that... we, errrr, Took Our Time 😅

Takes a village to make one song:

🎸 @yiannis_panagoulias guitar, vocals, mastermind

🎛️ @manolis_kart @symposion_entertainment : bass, production, guitar

🪘 @lukefoxdj : cajon (gutted it didn't make the final mix, but it’s part of the story. Thank you for your kindness and skill)

🎚️ Thanasis Gikas for mixing, mastering and keys programming: https://www.facebook.com/mike.dreamweaver

🥁 Mihalis Orfanidis for drums
https://www.facebook.com/mike.dreamweaver

So grateful for this song and the connection and friendships it cultivated 💛

👉 To listen live, search for allfmradio on Sunday at 6pm and hit play.

Only two months late, but here they are: snippets from my set at Marché du Châble @imaginevdb in Verbier, Switzerland 🇨🇭🏔️

1.5 hours on stage, snow-capped mountains in front of me, and so much sweat that I seriously considered ending the day in the town fountain. (I didn't. Swiss fountains deserve better 😅)

Huge thanks to @naomisapauling for camera duties 🎥 The highlight was the duet with the saxophonist @royski_poyski.... Full clip is already on my page, so scroll back for that one 🎷🎸🎤 ✨️

Really grateful for the opportunity and now officially an internationally-gigging musician now.. One gig counts. I checked 💅🌎✅️

Thanks to a gorgeous connection, I was invited to play Marché du Châble in Verbier, Switzerland 🇨🇭 @imaginevdb

In the break between sets I got chatting to the very cool @fitzroymadsen who told me he played saxophone 🎷 so I invited him to come up and play..... so glad he said yes - absolute highlight of the set for me!

Spontaneous collaborations just make me fizz ✨️💯

Thank you, @naomisapauling for: capturing this; setting it up; sourcing the equipment for me to borrow; and just being the most wondrous partner 🐧🥰

Finally 'releasing' this one 🎶✨️ Feels appropriate for both my music and space-holding profiles....

Take Your Time is an original that has always felt special - as if it arrived as a gift during a ceremony 🍄✨️. It's about remembering that we are the authors of our own stories and the power of making our inner narratives kinder and more helpful. Breath and time are our friends in that.

The journey to recording this was full of serendipity and joy, and I am beyond grateful to the following amazing people:

✨ Yiannis Panagoulias for catalysing the recording process, organising, guitar, backing vocals, championing / cheerleading and all-round magical man https://www.facebook.com/yiannispanagouliasmusic

🎸Manolis Kartsonakis for sound engineering, editing and programming and electric guitar

💗Cannot recommend Symposion Entertainment enough - hit them up if you need something produced or mastered. They are the best.

https://symposion.rocks/

🥁μιχαλης ορφανίδης / Mihalis Orfanidis for intuitive and legendary drums
https://www.facebook.com/mike.dreamweaver

🎙️Thanasis Gikas for mixing, mastering and keys programming: https://www.facebook.com/mike.dreamweaver

🎥 The gorgeous Naomi Pauling - who kindly (and patiently) agreed to be my camera person on one of our country hikes and capture some rough-and-ready footage for the video I edited (InShot). I'm proud of how it's turned out.... especially considering there was zero hair and makeup on site 😅

🫵Final thanks to you for watching / reading up to this point.... you'll even catch some in-video 'bloopers' if you watch until the end 😉

Mega love to all ☆♡☆

She's the DJ who gave us the faith to start Barefoot Beats — and now she's coming to MAKE. YOU. DANCE!!🎶✨️🥳

Back in June 2024, we were completely transfixed by @dunyalamrhari set at a festival. The energy, the music, the pure good vibes she brought to the dancefloor — it lit us up and helped give us the faith that Barefoot Beats could exist. We found her after the set, gave her some love, and a connection was born 💛

Now we're bringing her from Bristol to Levenshulme for a special BB extended edition on Saturday 11th July — and we cannot wait!

Dunya's planning a journey through dub/reggae, house, Latina, Afro/SWANA house, garage and dnb — with some fun remixes thrown in because, as she put it, "it's uplifting when we can all sing songs we love." This is going to be something really special.

We also want to be honest with you — this *may* be the last Barefoot Beats for 2026. So if you want to help us go out with a bang until 2027, this is the one💥🕺 💃

Tickets are already selling — don't sleep on it.

Lil' cover of For Good on an evening when I'm feeling sad.

Singing didn't help my mood in the way I hoped it might. But it's one of my go-to activities for an attempted lift. And sometimes I still like putting stuff out into this silly world, even when I'm not sure how to be witnessed in real life 🤷‍♀️🙃

This is one for my lovely friends, family and chosen family who have changed me for good. Thank you for your love and support. You know who you are 🥰🙌🙏

Having a crack at content like this, despite this *technically* being a music page.... bear with me. Lots to learn so feedback welcome.

Small clarification after posting:
I support local governments having the power to raise and manage their own taxes — that’s a part of democratic local autonomy.
My point about Reform councils was about campaign messaging versus what happens once in power, not about councils raising tax per se (many councils across parties have had to do this due to funding pressures).

TL;DR summary:

we can literally
structure buildings to help
make democracy more.... democratic

f**k career politicians

PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION
IS ESSENTIAL

Reform UK cannot be trusted

Back in January I spent an evening jamming with Rob (guitar) and Chris (drums) @chriscjok to see if we might start a band together.

We played around with a few covers, caught up, had some fun and nearly blew out my eardrums 🤣.

Ultimately our styles weren’t quite the right fit for a band — but it was a tasty session and I’m glad it happened.

Here are a few captures from when I briefly lived my “front woman of a very cool band” fantasy.

Tracks: Naïve / Creep / Free Fallin’ / Valerie
