POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Essendon has informed Nik Cox, Tom Edwards and Kayle Gerreyn they will be removed from the playing list as the Bombers continue to shape their squad ahead of the upcoming Telstra AFL Draft and Rookie Draft.

The Club remains open to potential train-on opportunities for each of the trio, should list spots become available in the coming months.

The three vacant list spots will provide the Bombers with added flexibility heading into the draft, where they currently hold picks No.1, 17 and 25.

Essendon’s General Manager of List & Recruiting Matt Rosa thanked each of the players for their professionalism and said the Club would continue to keep its options open as they navigate the draft period.

❤️🖤 HARRY JONES: ONE BIG PRE-SEASON TO PROVE HIMSELF❤️🖤

I think fans sometimes underestimate just how much Harry Jones has had to overcome with injuries.

After a shocking back stress fracture in 2023, Harry fought his way back to play 21 games in 2024, showing what he could offer when his body allowed him to build some consistency.

Then came another devastating setback in 2025, with a horrific ankle injury that left fans shocked at the sight of it. It was like something out of a car crash, requiring surgery and once again cruelly interrupting his progress.

Think about the countless hours Harry has put into running, rehabilitation and gym work just to get himself back on the park. The physical and mental toll of that work is enormous, especially when you're repeatedly knocked back just as you're building momentum. I've seen the work he has done with my own eyes. The running sessions over and over again!

The great news is he's now back pain free. With a year left on his contract, a full pre-season could be massive for him!

Fans have been quick to forget the issues he has had but the talent is there. Hopefully, he finally gets a clean run at it and the chance to recapture his very best footy and prove he has what it takes at AFL level.

Fingers crossed Harry gets that opportunity. After everything he's been through and all the work he's put in, he deserves a crack at it with his body right!

👊❤️🖤

🖤❤️ HOW GOOD WILL IT BE TO HAVE LEWIS HAYES BACK! ❤️🖤

One of the biggest positives heading into the new season will be seeing young Lewis Hayes back out there in the red and black. A kid who has worked his backside off before he got his first opportunity at the highest level!

Then we got a glimpse of what he can offer on his AFL debut against Sydney, where he dominated and looked right at home down back before that cruel ACL injury cut his game short.

At 199cm, with his intercept marking, athleticism and competitiveness, Lewy has plenty of exciting attributes to develop into a quality key defender for the Dons.

But there is so much more to Hayesy than what he brings on the field. When I watch him train, he is always the loudest out there, constantly encouraging his teammates, getting around the boys and spurring them on. He brings energy, enthusiasm and genuine passion to everything he does!

He absolutely loves his teammates, and it's pretty clear they love him just as much. ❤️🖤 That sort of character and energy is invaluable around a footy club, and it's another reason why having him back will be so great.

After everything he has been through with his recovery, it will be fantastic to see him get a proper pre-season under his belt and continue building his game. He's still only 21, and his best football is hopefully ahead of him!

Let's hope we get some luck on the injury front and see Hayesy back doing what he loves, competing, encouraging the boys and bringing that infectious energy to the group.

Can't wait to see you back out there, Hayesy!

🚨 ESSENDON'S DRAFT HAND IS IN A STRONG POSITION 🖤❤️💪

The Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period has officially wrapped up, and Essendon's draft hand is now taking shape ahead of next month's National Draft.

The Bombers hold Pick 1 for just the second time in Club history and have secured Pick 17 from Hawthorn, adjusted following compensation picks.

We also managed to retain a pick in the 20s, sending Picks 21 and 27 to Brisbane in exchange for quality half-back Keidean Coleman and Pick 25. A very good result in my view.

With the next two drafts set to be heavily impacted by Tasmania's entry into the competition, Matt Rosa and the club have been proactive in building our future draft hand.

As well as retaining our own first and second-round picks for 2027 and 2028, we've acquired valuable draft capital from other clubs.

The Jordan Ridley-Jack Bowes trade secured Geelong's 2027 first-round pick, while Zach Merrett's departure brought in Hawthorn's second-round pick for that year.

Our current draft hand:

🔴 2026: Picks 1, 17, 25 and 80. (Plus the bidding compo pick)

🔴 2027: Two first-round picks, including Geelong's, plus second, third and fourth-round picks.

🔴 2028: Our first-round pick, three second-round picks, including Hawthorn's and Geelong's, plus a third-round pick.

Matt Rosa has indicated the club will continue exploring opportunities to maximise its draft hand, but believes we're already in a strong position even if we hold our current picks.

Personally, I want us to retain Pick 1 and secure around five quality selections inside the top 25 across this draft and continue building a list capable of sustained success.

We've added an important piece in Kiddy Coleman, strengthened our future draft position and maintained valuable flexibility over the next two years.

Now it's time to nail the draft and bring some genuine young talent into the club.

The foundations are there. Let's get it right from here!

🚨 KIDEY COLEMAN IS A BOMBER! ❤️🖤

Essendon has secured Keidean Coleman and pick 25 from Brisbane in exchange for picks 21 and 27 in the dying minutes of the trade period.

It's a move seven years in the making after Essendon first bid on Kiddy in the 2019 National Draft, only for Brisbane to match.

At his best, Coleman is one of the most damaging ball users off half-back in the competition. His elite left foot, speed, agility and ability to take the game on are exactly what our defence has been crying out for!

His 2023 Grand Final performance was outstanding. He finished runner-up in the Norm Smith Medal after collecting a game-high 23 kicks and also finished second in the Gary Ayres Medal for the best player across the finals series.

Injuries have cruelled his career since, including an ACL rupture in 2024 and further setbacks in 2025. But he returned to AFL football in 2026 and now gets a fresh start at the Bombers.

Matt Rosa made it clear the club was aligned on getting the deal done, and Kiddy is excited about the opportunity to play for Essendon.

We get a genuine difference-maker in an area where we desperately need better ball movement, and we also get pick 25 back.

Welcome to the Hangar, Kiddy! Can't wait to see that left foot in the red and black.

🚨 Ollie Lord is reportedly set to meet with Essendon soon, and I reckon this is one worth exploring. ❤️🖤

At 197cm, he's got the size, athleticism and aggression to become a very good key forward. We've already seen glimpses of his enormous potential, but unfortunately he's had absolutely horrendous luck with injuries and struggled to get any real continuity in his footy.

The beauty is we could potentially pick him up with one of our extra rookie spots without giving up any draft capital. He is yet to be offered a contract at Port so it would be dependent on wether he available as a delisted free agent.

For a bloke with his physical attributes and upside, that's a pretty good risk to take in my opinion. Get his body right, give him a fresh opportunity and who knows what he could become.

Sometimes these are the opportunities you need to take. Plenty of upside without sacrificing our valuable draft picks.

Definitely worth a crack!

❤️🖤 Jacob Farrow 🔥

How good has this kid been in his first season at the Bombers!

Averaging 17.6 disposals, 6.1 marks and 3.2 intercepts a game in 2026, Jacob has shown plenty of class across half-back. His kicking is an absolute thing of beauty, and he’s tough, composed and backs himself under pressure!

Still only 19 with plenty of development ahead of him. Very exciting to see what this kid can become in the red and black!

❤️🖤👊
