If we evaluate your life, and theology, and make your plans, based on personal “happiness”, you may be worshipping the creature rather than the Creator, Who is blessed forever. Amen.
(Romans 1:25)

Conversely, a Christ-centered theology focuses on Jesus, loving, pleasing and obeying Him.

If we realize that we are likely thinking and acting and living in “light” of how everything makes us “feel”, we need a powerful renewal, a holy change, of our mind. May we repent and surrender anew to Jesus, sit at His beautiful feet, and let Him teach us to yield to His love-lined yoke, submit to His all-wise, sacred counsel, so help us God. by @patte_smith

A W Pink notes:

“𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘌𝘥𝘦𝘯

Adam and Eve made room in their blissfully blessed lives
for that which their beloved Benefactor, and the Founder if their every feast,
had forbidden. They bristled at God’s hedge of love.

Is it any wonder that we are often flooded with feelings of wanting/needing MORE than the kind providence of God has allowed us?

Question your assessment of what makes you “happy”. Be suspicious when you think you deserve “better” or “more” than the husband or wife and marriage and family that you have been given.

The prohibitions of God do not proceed from malevolence or an intention to impair the blessedness of man and woman - for God has given all good and lawful pleasures to enjoy. How dare we say that what the Lord has given us, and the boundaries He has placed upon us, are not satisfying us? May we learn to subordinate our bodily and emotional inclinations to find our deepest satisfaction and our highest delight in Christ alone.

May we say:

“𝙸 𝚊𝚖 𝚗𝚘𝚝 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚑𝚢 𝚘𝚏 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚕𝚎𝚊𝚜𝚝 𝚘𝚏 𝚊𝚕𝚕 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚖𝚎𝚛𝚌𝚒𝚎𝚜, 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚘𝚏 𝚊𝚕𝚕 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚝𝚛𝚞𝚝𝚑, 𝚠𝚑𝚒𝚌𝚑 𝚃𝚑𝚘𝚞 𝚑𝚊𝚜𝚝 𝚜𝚑𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚍 𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚘 𝚃𝚑𝚢 𝚜𝚎𝚛𝚟𝚊𝚗𝚝“

People want ways to accommodate their desires and comfort as they pursue personal fulfillment.

In Matthew 16:24 Jesus declares,
“Whoever wants to be My disciple
must deny themselves …”

Thise who belong to Christ crucify/kill their sinful, selfish feelings, passions and desires.
(Galatians 5:24)

Denying ourself and putting oursin to death are not the way of the flesh (the world and the devil).

They are the way of the Spirit.

You think about that. by @patte_smith

Confess your failures,
tragic flaws,
and many sins.

Repentance is the necessary beginning.

Excuses increase folly.

But with repentance,
not excuses,
comes wisdom.

Dont make excuses.
Make restitution.
Make amends.

People are watching.
Children watching.

Be an example of humility and godliness.

So help you, God.

Unless you repent,
you will perish.

The biblical doctrine of Total Depravity
is a very humbling one.

Every man
and every woman
must look to the Lord
to ask Him to discover and uncover
the ways in which his or her fleshly, corrupt sin nature (original sin)
are influencing,
and even directing,
the thoughts of their mind,
the affections of their heart,
the feelings, emotions,
and perceptions of their circumstances.
Only by the guiding principles and precepts of God’s Holy Word,
and the illuminating, enwisening, sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit,
can we rightly distinguish between fallen (fleshly, worldly, satanic) influences and the godly, wholesome, good, righteous, just spiritual forces of DIVINE (Agape) LOVE. We are commanded to mortify (CRUCIFY, KILL) even the early motions of sin in our soul. John Owen says:
“Mortification is the soul’s vigorous opposition to SELF…”

How contrary to popular (secular, humanistic) views of “self” where fallen desires are called rightful “needs”. Idealized, romantic, worldy, fleshly notions of life, work, marriage, family, womanhood (femininity), manhood (masculinity) are rife in our modern culture and have greatly infected the visible church.

KILLING SIN in our soul
is the work of the Holy Spirit
and the explicit duty of the Christian.

If we live after/according to the dictates/pleasures of our flesh we will reap corruption and die! (Galatians 6:8-9)

When we experience godly sorrow
for our many sins
(our failure to live in perpetual, humble obedience to God’s holy Law in thought, word and deed)
we will avoid the terrible disease
of entitlement,
and/or
of self pity.

And the disordered treachery
and pathology (maybe even psychopathy) of a “victim mentality”.

Worldly sorrow leads to death.
Godly sorrow leads to life.

Read 2 Corinthians 7:10.

There is nothing wrong with holding others accountable for their sin (against God, against you and against others.)

But, be certain to take responsibility for the sin on your part. (The log in your own eye. Matthew 7:3-5 ) Own it. Repent of it and seek the cleansing and sanctifying power of Jesus.

It’s the difference
between darkness and light.

You think about that.
Amen. i by @patte_smith

Open your mouth,
speak up for those
who cannot speak for themselves,
for those with no voice,
for the hopeless,
and defenseless,
In the cause
and for the justice
of all
who are on the verge of destruction
and appointed to die.
Open your mouth,
judge righteously,
defend the rights of the poor and needy.
Plead their case!
Defend their cause!
Give justice to, and
defend the weak and the fatherless,
the poor little orphans.
Uphold and maintain the rights of the
helpless,
oppressed,
afflicted,
needy,
suffering,
and
destitute.
Protect,
rescue and deliver
the poor, weak and needy;
save and deliver them,
free them
from the powerful hands
of the heartless and wicked.
So help you, God.

{Proverbs 31:8-9;Psalm 82:3-4}

Children are gifts from the Lord.
(Psalm 127:3)

They are fearfully and wonderfully designed and created
in the image and likeness of God.
(Psalm 139:14;Genesis 1:26-27)

God says: “You shall not murder”.

𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗗𝗘𝗔𝗙?

Some people brought a man to Jesus “𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘧 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬” (Mark 7:31) Jesus took the man aside and put His fingers into the man’s ears (verse 33). Then Jesus spit and touched the man’s tongue with the moisture. After touching the man’s ears and tongue, Jesus looked up to Heaven, and then to the man, and said to him, “𝘌𝘱𝘩𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘢!”, which means “𝘉𝘦 𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘥!” in Aramaic. “𝘈𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘯’𝘴 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘥, 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘶𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘭𝘺”. The people marveled, saying, “𝙃𝙚 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙖𝙛 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙪𝙩𝙚 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙠”
{Mark 7:31-37}

You may not be physically deaf, but if you do not have ears to hear the Truth as it is in Jesus, YOU ARE SPIRITUALLY DEAF.

Christ has the power to OPEN your ears! by @patte_smith

Whatever is true,
whatever is honorable,
whatever is just,
whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely,
whatever is commendable,
if there is any excellence,
if there is anything worthy of praise,
think about these things.
The things which you learned
and received
and heard
and saw in me,
these do,
and the God of peace
will be with you.

~ the Apostle Paul
in Philippians 4:8-9

As I saw this photo of the sheep looking and listening,
I was struck with how I want to be struck by,
looking and listening to Jesus.
I want to be considering His Word, His Way, His will, His beauty, His goodness, His Truth.
All of His ineffable wonder.
Always.

I want to be like this sheep, listening quietly.
I can almost see in the expression of this creature the question, “What did you say, Good Shepherd?”

In the midst of all the turmoil, the darkness, the confusion, the horror of war and disease and violence and suffering in this fallen world, may the Lord help us to make a serious study of HIM.

So help us, God. by @patte_smith
