Not because it's new.

For so long, you may have believed you stayed because you didn't have a choice.

Maybe today you're beginning to see something different.

When someone learns what you love most...

They also learn where fear has the greatest chance of keeping you still.

If you're carrying guilt for the years you survived...

Please don't add shame to a story that was already heavy enough.

You were protecting the people you loved with the understanding you had at the time.

And if today you can see more clearly than you could then...

That's not something to condemn.

It's evidence that healing has already begun.

Be gentle with the woman who did the best she could before she knew there was another way.

A single mother becomes something most people will never fully understand.

She becomes the father.
And the mother.

She carries both roles so completely that, somewhere along the way, she forgets where one ends and where she begins.

She spends years making sure everyone else feels safe, loved, and cared for…

While quietly teaching herself to survive without being cared for.

The heartbreaking part?

People get so used to her strength that they stop seeing the woman behind it.

They forget that beneath the resilience is still a girl who wants to be hugged after a hard day.
A woman who wants someone to say, “You don’t have to carry this alone.”

Instead, she’s expected to keep going.

To keep smiling.
To keep being both parents.
To keep ignoring her needs as a woman.
And as a human.

There is no other role that asks one person to become two people… and somehow still expects her to never need anyone herself.

She isn’t just strong.

She’s a woman who has carried more than anyone should ever have to carry.

Single mothers are a Category of One.

What does “single mom” even mean?

A mom is a mom. Period.

Single or married doesn’t change the fact that you are the nurturer, the anchor, the one who carries the weight even when no one sees how heavy it gets.

So why do we keep adding a prefix to motherhood…

when what we should be adding is a crown?

Next time someone asks, “Are you a single mom?”

Correct them.

You are not a category.

You are The Category of One.

A queen in a league of your own.

Save this and share it with another queen who needs to remember her crown.
