@muyuphotography took these amazing shots of me as part of a test shoot for our Professional Keffiyeh Photoshoot Fundraiser we are hosting at @hamsartmarket with @palestineimpactcollective on Saturday Dec 6th!!! I'm sharing some samples here because he did such a good job making me look less goofy than I normally look and its a good teaser of what your headshots could look like if you come! All proceeds are going to scholarships for Gazan students. Everyone should come out and bring a job searching friend. We'll also have a resume sharing and job sharing circle. PIC is putting on this event because 1) We want to support access to meaningful employment for our community - an awesome headshot and community network + connections go a long way! 2) Having Keffiyeh and cultural wear visible in our LinkedIn or public profiles is an awesome way to visibly signal solidarity, safety and shifting narratives. I am honoured to be a 2025 @topalestinefilmfestival Filmmaker Resident๐ŸŽฅ๐Ÿ‰ I made my first short film!! The Silence They Taught Us was made by pulling from old footage from @theyoungwontforget (film still in the works!) & new footage. I also had the joy of collaborating with my childhood bestie @jasmine.lesperance on animation + work with the amazing @noelpendawa in post ๐ŸŽฌ The film revolves around a common thematic for many Palestinians raised in the West. Fear is used to silence Palestinians, especially in professional spaces, forcing them to hide their identities as a cautionary survival tactic. Its a reflection on generational protectionism and a call to action: that reclaiming voice and visibility can strengthen and unite the community in the fight for liberation. ๐ŸŽฅ Screening Sept 28 @ 1PM as part of TPFFโ€™s โ€œUnsilencedโ€ Anti-Palestinian Racism shorts series. I visited and had an amazing time at the dead sea both on the Palestinian and Jordanian side (swipe for some pictures of ridiculously fun times). There are "jewish" only entrances and beaches on the zionist controled occupied side despite being the West Bank. We had to circle a few times before finding an entrance in which arabs were allowed to enter. I had an internal battle deciding whether or not to visit the dead sea on the Palestinian side because it was under Israeli control and you had to pay a fee to an Israeli ''beach side resort'' to enter. During my whole time in Palestine, I made an intense and conscious effort not to contribute to the zionist economy, even if that meant that I did not eat for 40+ hours before I finally found Arab owned shops in Haifa's Wadi Nisnas neighborhood. Did I want to pay an entrance fee to the occupiers? No I did not. However, conversations with my family, diaspora and local Palestinian friends reinforced my drive. I won't let an occupation stop me from visiting and bathing in the natural waters of my homeland, smearing my skin with its mineral rich earth. I'd go and swim in all of Palestine's seas. The dead sea is in Palestine. However, it is under Israeli control and its resources are mined, pillaged, sold and profited on by the occupying forces. If you see dead sea products, pay close attention to where they are from, if they come from ''Israel'' or are listed as ''the Holy Land'' the company is likely Israeli and profiting off the occupation. If you want dead sea products and want to make conscious consumer decisions aligned with your values, there are a select few Palestinian owned companies as well as many Jordanian ones you could purchase from. Here is a list of some well known zionist brands using Dead Sea products to avoid / boycott: Ahava (their biggest brand), More Beauty, Premier Dead Sea, Avani Dead Sea Cosmetics, -417, Canaan Minerals and Herbs taken in Dead Sea by @paubaolan

I don't think I could adequately describe how insanely happy being in Palestine makes me feel. Haifa, the lands where my great grandfather, my grandparents and their siblings were forced to leave in the midst of violent brutal murders and attacks by the zionist forces in 1948. It was incredibly bittersweet to walk through Haifa and find evidence of my family's existence - our names in the local Arab melkite church, a cemetery filled with Sahyoun ancestors, the apartment my grandparents and their siblings use to live in.. but to see the city so changed, not as it once was... To walk through the streets and hear more polish and russian than arabic. To see many more eastern european faces than arab ones. Anger. Sadness. Loss. Joy at Return. It's taken me sometime to riffle through my emotions. I'm still processing it all to be honest. It is a privilege to be the first in my family to make her way back to the homeland. I thought of my grandfather, Neguib, who loved this land so deeply but was never able to return and see it before his death. I thought of my father, who grew up feeling stuck between two places - not so Egyptian despite being born and raised there after the family fled Palestine, and not so Palestinian, as it was a land he had never known but from his parents learned to love as his own. He transmitted that same love of our land to me. 74 years later it was surreal to dig my toes into the sand and swim in the sea my ancestors used to play in.
