A couple highlights from todays trip to rural Togo where we visited a womens collective farming sweet potatoes and making red palm oil. Again, I couldn't feel more welcomed to these communities. Such a gift to spend time with them. #economieswithoutscale by @paulkillebrew

Shoot day #7 from rural Togo. We met two different collectives of women entrepreneurs. One making palm oil and the other growing and processing peanuts into peanut butter. How did I get this lucky? #economieswithoutscale by @paulkillebrew

Here's a just a few of my favorites from Day 5 of women entrepreneurs in Lome, Togo. Such a blessing to be welcomed into their lives and capture the spirit of their hard work to provide for their families. I can't wait to articulate some of their stories for my final project. #economieswithoutscale by @paulkillebrew

Day 1 of the Economies Without Scale, Togo Edition is off to a great start. Today we visited a collective of bag makers near Lome. The makers were awesome and proud of their work. They are the recipients of micro-finance and used their loans to buy sewing machines and materials for their bags. What a lovely day it was to be behind the camera. Tomorrow we head off to a different world of agriculture and livestock. #economieswithoutscale #microfinance by @paulkillebrew

Arrived late last night to Lome in Togo on the west coast of Africa for the 2nd leg of my thesis project Economies Without Scale. I’ll be here two weeks photographing stories about entrepreneurs participating in micro-finance, a cross-collaboration with the NGO I’ve partnered with on the project. That starts tomorrow, today is beach time on Togo’s beautiful coast. Stand by for lots of photos over the next couple weeks. Cheers! by @paulkillebrew

The Grateful Dead said it best..."what a long, strange trip, it's been." The Philippines struck me with the kindness of it's people. China struck me with massive scale and well managed cities. It's good to be home and forever grateful to have had this experience. by @paulkillebrew

While time has surrounded the Pengzhen Old Tea House with the growing metropolis of Chengdu, this place remains as it has been for at least a century. Tea, cards, spirited debate, and plenty of laughter in a vibrant community hub. For me, it was the Disneyland of photography. #pengzhenoldteahouse by @paulkillebrew

Chengdu's People's Park hosts a Marriage Market where parents of unmarried children play matchmakers. Pink sheets represent daughters and blue sheets represent sons detailing age, height, education, income, and partner expectations. Illustrating a growing generational gap, we chatted with a young girl who interviewed us for a school project and she told us she didn't feel like marriage was important and seemed a bit dismayed at this whole idea. by @paulkillebrew
