Hi, I'm Paul! 👋🏻

I founded Sted out of the desire to help deliver folks with not only beautiful homes but also high-performance homes that focus on health and comfort. Homes as a basic level are simple shelters, but they shouldn't make us sick or uncomfortable.

I am a licensed architect with over a decade of experience in the high-end, single-family residential world, with a decade of experience in construction management in that same high-end single-family residential world; have a full understanding of what it takes to design and build high-end homes.

I have a strong passion for building science and a curiosity about the built environment that extends throughout my life. I monitor air quality and utility usage in my home somewhat obsessively, in a quest to keep a healthy and comfortable home, while saving money! I understand not only the science of the systems and components, but I also live with them to understand the real world benefits and downsides. I walk the walk.

I am a member of AIA and NCARB. I am a Certified Passive House Builder (CPHB) through Phius, and hold the Build Show BS401 certificate. I'm currently studying to become a Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC)! by @paulrey27

The last few days of biking before Budapest. More food, more sites and more landscape. The landscape was a lot more farm land.

They grow white asparagus in that region. To get the asparagus white, they cover the crops with tarps. No sunlight, no chlorophyll, no green. Neat!

And I still can't believe that poppies grow like weeds over there. I wanted to take them all home. by @paulrey27

Vienna gets a post all to itself. We were in Vienna in 2019, so we got to see a different side of it this time - obviously we got to see more landscape and some country side on the bikes.

We also walked through some city neighborhoods where Paul fell in love with the way family housing and greenspaces were laid out. So I might actually get him to move to Europe after all, lol. taken in Vienna, Austria by @paulrey27

We rode through the Black Forest and Bavaria, which was my favorite. Again lots of food and lots of scenic river views. We also saw lots of castles and churches while we gave our butts a break. by @paulrey27

The bike trip of our lives. We biked along the Danube - from Prague to Budapest.

Each morning we had a route wrap, where our guides creatively laid out the day's route in front of us. Then we cruised at our own pace to get to mid-way snack or lunch stops before continuing on our journey.

I biked about 30 miles each day. Paul opted for the longer routes and averaged 40 miles a day. We probably would have lost weight if they didn't feed us so much! Our home each night was a river cruise ship on the Danube.
