NEW VIDEO UP on YouTube....that's right, on my channel at " Steven Baczek Architect " I am posting 3 videos a week - Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 5:30 am. I am usually walking and talking our projects and talking specifics of Architecture and Building Science, and just general Building knowledge. Check out today's video where I talk thru the floor framing decisions of a recent project. In this video, I walk the project site to talk thru the actual building, then I head back to the Vibe studio and bring up details and drawings and walk thru the different aspects of the floor frame......head on over to my channel, check out the video, smash that subscribe button, and drop a comment or question......and as always ENJOY!!

JUST FOR MY BUDDY @workingwithmatt here is a pic of the band joist area sealed to provide the proper fire separation. The MGO board supplied by Tamlyn is again sealed using Siga's Meltel. With this area completed, the exterior wall will be isolated.

HERE IS A TOP DOWN VIEW OF THE FLOOR FRAMING ASSEMBLY. You can see the 51/2" recess of the floor frame to recieve the exterior 2x4 wall. The interior 2x4 wall will sit atop the trussed floor frame. Note the floor sheathing is a 5/4x8 T&G board. We covered the floor sheathing installation with Siga's Wetguard for added protection.

I AM FOLLOWING UP WITH SOME BREAKDOWN IMAGES of the composite reel about the perfect wall. Here you see the Superior Wall Foundation System with the floor frame above, as mentioned note the 5 1/2" recess of the floor frame to accommodate the exterior 2x4 wall that will come down to the foundation wall and insulate the band joist area.

Some restoration work we are helping with.

Being an architect means we get to zoom in and out, work at varying scales on all sorts of things.

Just some standard Revit business.

Sted. From middle English meaning place.

Think homestead.

We create places that last. Places that provide shelter and comfort, effortlessly. A healthy, comfortable home to protect you and your family for generations.

A healthy and comfortable home is not a luxury - it is the baseline.

Hi, I'm Paul! 👋🏻

I founded Sted out of the desire to help deliver folks with not only beautiful homes but also high-performance homes that focus on health and comfort. Homes as a basic level are simple shelters, but they shouldn't make us sick or uncomfortable.

I am a licensed architect with over a decade of experience in the high-end, single-family residential world, with a decade of experience in construction management in that same high-end single-family residential world; have a full understanding of what it takes to design and build high-end homes.

I have a strong passion for building science and a curiosity about the built environment that extends throughout my life. I monitor air quality and utility usage in my home somewhat obsessively, in a quest to keep a healthy and comfortable home, while saving money! I understand not only the science of the systems and components, but I also live with them to understand the real world benefits and downsides. I walk the walk.

I am a member of AIA and NCARB. I am a Certified Passive House Builder (CPHB) through Phius, and hold the Build Show BS401 certificate. I'm currently studying to become a Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC)!

This is an aluminum “triple pane” window from the 80’s utilizing a dual pane insulated glass unit + a separated third interior panel. In between is also an internal blind system. The install method was with the clips which are still used nearly 50 years later. We are replacing this with modern day European triple pane windows however, I thought this was very interesting and advanced for this era. What are your thoughts?

Had a great time at the 2024 AIA Indiana State Convention held in Indianapolis in the Indiana Landmarks building. I had the privilege to be a panelist on the afternoon session for ‘Revitalizing Masonry’. To continue to do my part for our profession I am sharing a few key takeaways. Thanks to @glengery @brickworkssupplycenter for being a gold sponsor for the conference and for having me and the panelists (@paulrey27 @l2designllc @stephenkromkowski @nathankaraway @imibuilds ) to share our thoughts. Jay Harwood of @brickworkssupplycenter did a great job moderating. #aiaindiana #architecture #architect #design #masonry #brick #aia #timeless #sustainability #durability #craftsmanship #education

Thrilled to see this one come together and cross the finish line. A kitchen full of tight tolerance’s and creative details for some wonderful clients. With a well organized and smooth running job-site. It doesn’t get much better than that!

Thank you to @paulrey27 and @hausarch for the great project and opportunity.

As always the dream team did a wonderful job and I am proud of the dedication and craftsmanship.
