![MEET THE ARTIST — Paulus Maassen
In Signa Sine Sensu, @paulus_maassen Maassen draws inspiration from the simple visual language that surrounds us every day: traffic signs, pictograms and letters. Forms we recognise without thinking.
He translates this directness into work that sits between painting and sculpture, building up paint into forms that extend from the wall. Alongside frames enclosing an empty centre, separate segments suggest a sign: a hook, an arrow, a figure that stops halfway.
Together, they form a collection of signs without a language, recognisable in shape yet empty of meaning. Open or closed, each remains silent about what it might mean.
Meet Paulus and discover Signa Sine Sensu at [re]discoveries, 26–29 November at Club Strozzi, Amsterdam.
