MEET THE ARTIST — AGNES DUIJVES

“My floral paradises are created as spaces for contemplation, solace, and embrace.”

At the heart of @agnes.duijves work lies the beauty of impermanence: the desire to hold on to what is fragile and fleeting, and to preserve it in a new form of beauty.

Working with fresh, often delicate flowers, her process is an intuitive, seasonal experiment shaped by nature and time. It means surrendering to their rhythm while trying to capture a moment before it disappears. An attempt to transform the ephemeral into something lasting.

Discover her work and meet Agnes at [re]Discoveries.

MEET THE ARTIST | Barbara Munsel

@barbaramunsel Munsel creates contemporary tapestries from natural fibres and reclaimed materials. With a background in garment construction, she works by hand, dyeing and printing fabrics before stitching them into layered compositions.

Through repetition and deconstruction, each work develops a tactile surface where traces of materials and their histories gradually emerge.

Discover Barbara’s work and meet her at [re]Discoveries at Club Strozzi, Amsterdam.

MEET THE ARTIST — Audrey Buerman

What remains of a moment that has already passed?

Along the North Sea coast, @audreybuerman lets natural forces create images. Seawater, sand, wind and sunlight interact directly with light-sensitive paper, leaving physical traces of a moment that can never be repeated.

Working with cyanotype and camera-less photography, she gives space to chance. Each work takes shape through its encounter with the elements, recording movement and change as they happen.

After more than forty years as a psychologist and psychotherapist, Buerman graduated from Fotoacademie Amsterdam in 2024. Her practice considers what changes and what endures, through images made by the landscape itself.

MEET THE ARTIST — Thesi Geesink

@thesigeesink s way of looking was shaped in the darkroom, where light, timing and craft come together. Her roots in analogue photography continue to inform her work as a mixed-media artist today.

Starting with photography, she uses digital and contemporary techniques to create new images, moving between figurative imagery and abstraction. Some works feel still and slightly unfamiliar; others draw their energy from colour, rhythm and composition.

Across her practice, Geesink follows a fascination with the unexpected and the freedom to reshape the visible world on her own terms.

MEET THE ARTIST — Marina Kortenbout van der Sluijs

A journey through the desert at twenty, sleeping beneath the stars, left a lasting impression on @marina_kortenboutvandersluijs sense of light, colour and space. Her work begins with the atmosphere of a place or the impression an experience leaves behind.

In her paintings, she builds colour through as many as forty thin washes of acrylic, until individual brushstrokes disappear. From pale, almost white blues to intense fluorescent pinks, the surfaces invite a longer look as colour gradually reveals its depth.

Pay attention to the edges. Subtle transitions continue around the sides of the canvas, asking viewers to move and look around the corner. In her glass objects, Kortenbout follows light as it passes through and reflects off the material, changing the surrounding space.

MEET THE ARTIST — Tom Roest

An old frame can hold the beginning of a new work. With a background in antiques, @tomroest.art finds materials with a history: paper discovered inside antique frames is turned over and becomes a surface for his intuitive compositions.

Spirituality runs through his practice. Drawing on inner journeys, dreams and meditation, Roest translates images and emotions into forms that he often comes to understand after making them. Questions about where ideas come from, and what guides the act of creating, remain part of this process.

Through his work, he seeks to convey a feeling, a prayer or an energy, inviting viewers to follow their own curiosity.

MEET THE ARTIST — Clementine Oomes

How do you give form to something you cannot put into words? @clementine.oomes turns to materials, images and space to express the feelings, memories and experiences that make up her inner world.

Working on canvas, on paper and in three dimensions, she draws, paints, builds and combines. The making itself helps her understand and process what she feels, giving a physical presence to something otherwise intangible.

Her works bring vulnerability and strength into contact, allowing memories to take shape in the present. Each begins with a personal experience and leaves room for viewers to find their own associations.

MEET THE ARTIST — Walid El Masri

In @walidelmasri_art series Cocoon, massive tree trunks float between heaven and earth. Without roots or solid ground, they become a shelter for countless white cocoons.

Each cocoon holds two possible futures: the emergence of a butterfly, or death for the silk it produces. The material created to allow transformation may become its shroud. Through these suspended forms, El Masri reflects on displacement and alienation, with the cocoons becoming symbols of a wounded homeland.

An artist of Lebanese origin, El Masri works between studios in France and Luxembourg. He will present work from Cocoon at [re]discoveries this November.
