MEET THE ARTIST — Walid El Masri
In
@walidelmasri_art series Cocoon, massive tree trunks float between heaven and earth. Without roots or solid ground, they become a shelter for countless white cocoons.
Each cocoon holds two possible futures: the emergence of a butterfly, or death for the silk it produces. The material created to allow transformation may become its shroud. Through these suspended forms, El Masri reflects on displacement and alienation, with the cocoons becoming symbols of a wounded homeland.
An artist of Lebanese origin, El Masri works between studios in France and Luxembourg. He will present work from Cocoon at [re]discoveries this November.
