Bottling geek hack - Post harvest bottling has been intense. Ran out of modern 'improved' Agee jars, but have a couple of dozen old school Agee Secials of my Nanas I've not been able to part with. Problem with those is that the modern ring seals don't hold the dome lids down tight, rendering the jars unusable. Until now! I worked out the glass thread on the old jars is shallower than on the newer ones causing the ring to slip. So, got a flat head screwdriver and a block of wood and ran around the thread on the ring, tapping the thread about 1mm deeper at inch spacings around the ring. Hey presto, old jars no longer obsolete. Did a dozen rings which is the most I'd bottle in one batch. Once the dome has sealed, you take the ring off and reuse.
