OCTOBER UPDATES:

We’ve got the leaves changing and the air is crisp: Autumn has finally arrived! With it comes some seasonal treats so swipe through for the full details!

FROM UGANDA WITH LOVE:

A new espresso has hit our bar and it’s a big bowl of decadent comfort. “Plum Butter” is a naturally processed lot with notes of Plum, Grape & Cacao. It’s so good we’ve also designed it to be the base our new Cryo Flat White. Just in case you want more indulgence.

APPLE CRUMBLE CAKE:

It’s not Autumn in the UK without apples is it? Cooked apples folded into our cinnamon streusel cake. All the autumn bus words in one cake. Well, almost all of them… (next slide folks)

(REAL) PUMPKIN SPICE.

We get asked for pumpkin spice every year and we’re finally doing it BUT we’re doing it the right way: with real pumpkin too! Spiced pumpkin caramel and espresso? It’s too good! Served hot or iced. taken in Kings Heath by @pausebirmingham

ESPRESSO: JAZZ FRUITS

Sticking around on as our House espresso is this 2026 Sidamo region Ethiopian from Dak Coffee Roaster. Lots of Stone Fruit, Berries & White Chocolate.

BATCH: BANKO GOTITI

Another Ethiopian lot, this time sourced from the Gedeb region. Washed process and roasted by the nice folks at Ithaka here in Birmingham. Apricot, Black Tea, Gentle Florals.

GUEST SERVE: TIRAMISU CREAM.

The hot guest serve is back for the start of autumn. Served 6oz with Dak’s Berrimisu Costa
Rican natural and our house made Cryo Concentrate Milk. Think liquid tiramisu. Yes really. taken in Pause Coffee Shop & Bakery by @pausebirmingham

REAL CHOCOLATE.

Some of you may have seen many of the big brands are using chocolate that is mainly palm oil AKA “compound chocolate”. It’s cheap, nasty tasting and doesn’t taste like chocolate.

Needless to say that doesn’t fly with us: we proudly use @callebautchocolate Cocoa and chocolate to make our Chocolate Fudge Cake. If you’ve had it before you understand that great chocolate makes great chocolate cake.

In short: eat real chocolate. It’s delicious.

MORNING SUNSHINE.

We’re having some really quite beautiful mornings here on Poplar Road and whilst our coffee always looks quite gorgeous the early morning rays are making it even better!

Currently brewing a wonderfully elevated single farm coffee from Nicaragua. The farmers from Finca Santa Rita have naturally processed this lot to produce and specially sweet yet bright espresso. Notes of Green Apple, Blackberry & Dark Chocolate.

Each colour and design choice thoughtfully considered to make the most of our space.

Plus the little sun trap outside is delightful for the summer!

ROASTER RESIDENCY: SOLAS COFFEE ROASTERS

We’re so delighted to bring @solascoffeeroasters from Wicklow, Ireland to Birmingham!

Focusing on exceptional coffee crops with beautiful varietals and precision processing Solas are supplying us for the next month with some truly incredible coffees. Espresso, filter, retail; the works!

Our first espresso is a bonkers lot from Finca Rio Negro in Huila, Colombia. A pink bourbon varietal that’s boasts huge sweetness and creamy texture. Super juicy with notes of watermelon, raspberry and strawberry.

Thanks to Craig and the team for making all this possible. Some of our favourite coffees to date and excited to start drinking and brewing them on bar!

CLARIFIED MANGO LASSI.

- Honey Mango - Yoghurt - Oolong -

It’s Honey Mango season. Depending on who you ask they’re the best mangoes and only available in the UK for a month or so. To honour these delicious little morsels we’ve taken a few and created our own mango lassi using Greek yoghurt and semi-oxidised Oolong tea from @waterlootea

Add a little magic and we’ve got a super clean and juicy Mango Lassi that’s quite frankly, GORGEOUS in colour too.

It’s an endeavour to make but god it’s good. Limited availability so grab one when we have it! On at the weekends… while it lasts…
