A little roundup of some places I’ve chosen to spend money recently.

Let me tell you, I’ve been super picky with my time because my full time job has been full on, that doesn’t mean everything else stops though, so here’s some places that have been fun recently and a little bit of reality at the end 👀

@han_weetman I’ve wanted to see Hannah since last comedy fest but couldn’t make it, so I was glad to finally be able to see her and will be keeping an eye out for a longer set next

@tomtowellingcomedy started his set with a tour around @atticbrewcotap with ‘Greg Wallace’

@linzsantoro was the headline and I could relate hard to most of her set 🤭

@tminchin91 and @digger0108 ‘s look of love 🤣 and the best seats @katieobriensbirmingham

PAUSE APPRECIATION POST

On a sunny Saturday afternoon, I did what half of Brum seemed to be doing and headed down to @pausebirmingham.

There was a massive queue snaking out the door, off the back of @flatwhitefrank glowing, and thoroughly deserved, review. Always good to see a small independent getting the love it deserves, especially when it means more people discovering somewhere so special to me.

First up, the now famous cryo-flat white. Frank wasn’t lieing. This thing is bloody brilliant. It’s @roryjmcghie doing what he does best, taking something as familiar as a flat white and asking, what if we made this even better? You can taste the obsession, the graft and the sheer love of the craft in every sip. The man seriously knows his stuff.

Thankfully, there were still a few toasties knocking about. Cheese and chorizo is a combination that rarely lets you down, but here, the real star of the show is the bread. These buttery, brioche style slices are a thing of beauty. You could probably slap anything between them and still have a cracking lunch.

Finished off with a slice of lemon and blueberry cake, because I’m unable to resist @farahchaudry incredible cakes

An hour well spent eating, drinking and watching the world go by in my little happy place on the corner of Poplar Road.

Proper coffee, proper food and people who give a shit about what they do.

That’s Pause. And that’s exactly why we should be celebrating places like it.

OCTOBER UPDATES:

We’ve got the leaves changing and the air is crisp: Autumn has finally arrived! With it comes some seasonal treats so swipe through for the full details!

FROM UGANDA WITH LOVE:

A new espresso has hit our bar and it’s a big bowl of decadent comfort. “Plum Butter” is a naturally processed lot with notes of Plum, Grape & Cacao. It’s so good we’ve also designed it to be the base our new Cryo Flat White. Just in case you want more indulgence.

APPLE CRUMBLE CAKE:

It’s not Autumn in the UK without apples is it? Cooked apples folded into our cinnamon streusel cake. All the autumn bus words in one cake. Well, almost all of them… (next slide folks)

(REAL) PUMPKIN SPICE.

We get asked for pumpkin spice every year and we’re finally doing it BUT we’re doing it the right way: with real pumpkin too! Spiced pumpkin caramel and espresso? It’s too good! Served hot or iced.

Had a sweeet little weekend away in and around Birmingham recently visiting friends, @zacwilliamsmusic and @elleredman really came through with all the spots and made for the best trip, enjoying the time at home and outside - nice walks, cafe visits, home cooking and all the in betweens, love you guys 😭❤️‍🔥🙌🏾

ALSO managed to see @holbol_ and the little man which has been a long time coming!! 🦕

The highlights ended up fitting perfectly across these shots and I can’t decide on my favourite moment, but I guess that makes sense haha. Though having said this, those matcha shots are something 🍵

If you stick around long enough the subtitles change for some of the videos tooo - enjoying the slow move towards some long-form. 💫
